I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Some people may disagree with this, but this is my opinion. If you don't intend to treat a pet as a member of your family & household, don't get one. This includes letting them on the furniture and letting them sleep in bed with you. Yes. Things will get scratched up and covered in hair. Enjoy it.
