At the LMS, we value the important role clinician scientists play in advancing medical research. Our recent away day for our Chain Florey clinician scientist fellows was a huge success! The day was filled with insightful talks from our fellows, meaningful discussions and valuable career advice.

VTA dopamine-releasing neurons encode palatability and control the consummatory phase of eating dependent on the specific timing of their activity, actions suppressed by activation of GLP-1R signaling during palatable food consumption #weightloss #obesity www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

many have been convinced to buy supplements recommended by influencers who promise better health rarely they cause life threatening side effects. Like liver failure But influencers aren’t there to help when 💩 goes down.

New Phase 3a study showing efficacy of liraglutide for treating childhood obesity. This is a very exciting area and I look forward to the extension study & real world data. What are the long term health & health economic outcomes of early intervention in this chronic, relapsing condition?

Clinical researchers: reversing the decline. This report evidences the attrition of UK #clinicianscientists especially in more senior roles. Recognition that this is a group with distinct needs. Flexibility and re-expansion of opportunities required. Commitment from both NHS & universities.

Important piece of work on the definition of #obesity, and its designation as a #disease. Provides a framework for addressing the problem at the level of an individual patient. Crucial implications for access to therapy for those who really need it. www.thelancet.com/commissions/...
