Today on Is This Anything: I had a dream the other night where it was an Oops All Clowns version of a Agatha Christie/Clue Movie style murder mystery in a mansion. Like every character was a different genre of clown. I didn't sleep long enough to get to the murder, but the set up was very compelling

I have been paying enough attention to Airplane Shit for the last couple years to have opinions on the aesthetics of their design, and despite the Global Hawk having every design feature I usually hate to see in a plane (ass engine, goose neck, V tail) I can't help but love this very weird good boy:
Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk, a surveillance UAV, in NASA livery, idk what NASA is using it for but it's a good boy in my book since all it can do is take pictures of the ground and fly itself.Same plane (I know it doesn't have a cockpit but idk it's plane size, plane shape and has a plane engine, it's a plane) with US Airforce livery, I like the that they painted a red accent on the engine intake, this thing flies at nearly the edge of the upper atmosphere, no one's seeing that shit. One of the sensors on the nose looks makes it look like it's blowing out air like one of those illustrations of the North wind on old maps. How has no one made this thing into one of those inappropriately sexy ship/plane/tank girls? What are they called, uhhhhh Mecha Musume? No ones done it, yet I looked. Maybe they will now because one of Japan's Global Hawks crashed into the ocean on Tuesday, and maybe the perverts will learn about the good boy and make a weird GLaDOS type gijinka.Another USAF Global Hawk showing the back end of the plane while it's being worked on by ground crew. I think V tails are a crazy design choice primarily because it usually means they have more concentrated stress point at the junction of the...fins? Look I refuse to learn the proper terminology for this stuff because I know that way madness lies. I already have all the stereotypical feminine Autism interests, I can't start branching out into the masculine interests as well. I know enough to follow along with plane disaster videos and that's more than enough. Anyway. The Global Hawk avoids this structural weakness by having a space wide enough for the engine exhaust to sit between the V tail, making both elements make sense. The NASA one again, flying in profile, showing off it's goofy neck. It looks like an olm, or one of those lizards who sit around basking with their flappy chins. Apparently it's got a satellite dish inside it's bulbous, blank head. The page I copied this image from said NASA was using it to look at something to do with observing how gases affect the atmosphere or something. It was being used for some immpenetrable air science that's probably valuable to other turbo nerds (complimentary) stuff, you can't say that about the other goose neck monstrocities like the (one sec I need to look this up, I refuse to memorize their model names to maintain my casual plane guy status, there we go, found it:) the Sukhoi su-30. Even the cute attack dog tail design can't save that thing. I think China also has one that looks like that, lemme see... Yeah the J-16. Hideous.

Every time I have to get into a car with a touch screen I am consumed with unceasing rage. Tf you mean you have "8 new games available!" you're a CAR. It's illegal to look at your phone while driving, let alone play a goddamn video game. There is one touch screen and it is for controlling the CAR.

My top travel tip is to bring a big bag of peeled and salted pistachios with you. You're gonna be hungry without ready access to food, they're pretty satisfying, rich in the things your jetlagged ass needs and unless you're having premium nuts at home regulary, feel like a special treat every time.

Why my brain serve up horror folktale anthology in my dreams. I thought I was safe when I woke up briefly, but the anthology continued with a new and horrifying spin on mimics: they can be enslaved as doppelgangers but they WILL try to kill you at every turn, and comply maliciously to instruction.

Having a cat you hand raised from the age of 3 weeks old for about 16 years is peak bc you can make eye contact across a room and pat the bed and they'll just scamper over to spend the night sleeping on you like a loving, sentient beanbag.

Morty immediately and visibly praying on Cassie's downfall the second she's out the door for an emergency visit (bloody urine, hopefully it's a UTI, but she did just turned 16 so it could really be anything. Cats will sometimes pee blood for no reason and are known for dying from kidney problems)

Finally watched Project Hail Mary a few weeks ago, still can't believe that right before rolling credits, Lord and Miller snuck in that fuckass stock dolphin noise they used in every single episode of Clone High. Have they been doing this on every movie or did they give it a rest for like 20 years??

I went looking to see if there was any idea as to why men are more likely to get Parkinson's Disease (idk testosterone probably), instead I found out there is legitimate evidence that SMOKING TOBACCO has a protective effect, so I came out the other end with more questions than answers, really.

Is the USPS okay because this package is coming from New Jersey to me in Toronto, Canada, but is currently in Sweden having passed through Zurich, according to this tracking tool... This package was sent 9 days ago, what the hell is happening.
Screenshot of USPS tracking tool detailing my package's wild ride from clearing Canadian customs, leaving JFK... Then Zurich, Switzerland... Then Arlanda, Sweden. You can drive from either New Jersey or New York City to Toronto in about 8 hours, btw.

Through her vivid retelling of her family gathered around a samovar in Embroideries, I finally saw a sliver of my time on earth worked carefully across a page for the first time. While it feels too soon to be looking back on Marjane Satrapi's life and work, I hope she found the peace she sought.

The fun part of being barely literate in Russian is that I can read ancient Greek no problem, like right off an unearthed ancient artefact, but modern Greek is largely unintelligible because they added/changed some of the letters.

A thing that's bothered me about Witch Hat Atelier, and I only say this bc the it was sold to me on it's worldbuilding: Why is Coco literate? She's the daughter of seemingly the only seamstress in a suburban village, a single mom, there's no mention of school, or a library, who taught her to read??

Whenever people are like "you don't have a car??? But renting one is so expensive!!" I really have to wonder why they think a car's monthly loan payment, fuel, maintenance, parking and insurance comes out to less money than taking public transit and renting a car for $150/day a few times a year.

Do people who put on sleep packs or Vaseline on their faces before bed just, stay perfectly still on their backs the entire night? Because I just tried it and right now it just seems like an efficient way to soak your pillowcase in Vaseline over the course of a regular week.

Returning to The Binding of Isaac after a decade away only to find that the community is no longer anchored by my fellow (grown women with a comfort gaming habit) and is now almost entirely made up of guys under the age of 25 who at some point aspired to be Mr. Beast or a Paul brother.

I can tell you has LOVED me staying in bed the last three days playing Binding of Isaac: this pretty princess
My cat Cassie, a dilute calico, luxuriating on my blanketed lap. The phone decided to use night mode against my will and that's why the bathroom light in the background is so fucking loud.

A major problem with bsky, as with many social media ventures, is that they don't attempt any kind of separated discussion boards; it's all just threads winding out from individual user posts so you have mfers responding dog videos like it's just been posted for scrutiny on a PETA subreddit or /pol/

Everyone keeps jumping the gun to declare that "it's WW3 now" but refuse to consider that this might actually be Cold War 2: Proxy War Boogaloo just because it's not capitalists vs communists. It's not WW3 until nearly every nation in Europe, Asia and Africa are going at simultaneously.

It's very sweet that at the ripe old age of 8, Morty finally feels secure enough with me to climb onto my lap for an after dinner nap, but that means he is also secure enough to theatrically yawn big wafts of hot sardine breath directly into my face both before AND after nap time.

I checked to see how hard it would be to see the Tourney at Harrenhal play happening this summer by the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon, and because of how England's rail systems are all set up to go to London, it would be around an 8 hour round trip from John's hometown :')

It's interesting to me that people allegedly see white clothes as expensive or luxury products when white fabric is the only thing you can safely use chlorine bleach on. Like white cashmere, sure yeah, that's annoying to launder. White cotton? That shit can go in a bucket full of bleach solution.

I've been using computers for 26 years now and somehow managed to completely avoid having a normal laptop. Like one that opens and has a keyboard. I've always had a desktop tower and/or a Wacom and for some reason really hate the idea of having a regular laptop with a keyboard. I think I hate them??
