Murder at the Clown Convention? Or maybe the Clown College Reunion? Really, the impression I got from my dream was that it was just a planet where everyone's species is not human, but clown? I feel this set up would be ideal for a TTRPG where everyone could play out their Boo Boo the Fool fantasy.

Today on Is This Anything: I had a dream the other night where it was an Oops All Clowns version of a Agatha Christie/Clue Movie style murder mystery in a mansion. Like every character was a different genre of clown. I didn't sleep long enough to get to the murder, but the set up was very compelling

I kept seeing this image pop up saying that China made a temu version of the good boy, but it's totally wrong and it was actually North Korea. The real Guizhou WZ-7 is uhhh.... uhhhhhhh........... Gimme a second here....
Image pulled from facebook with a side by side comparison alleging that China made what looks like a simplified 3D model of the good boy with very similar stats but about 3-4 time cheaper. Good faith interpretation: this was made while only the specs of China's surveillance drone were available, and war/plane chuds made a speculative comparison within the limits of their imagination. Bad faith interpretation: AI ragebait for said same warchudstop half is Kim Jung Un shuffling around with his Military staff in front of the Saetbyol-4 like a cantankerous toddler forced to be at the family function without an ipad. Bottom half the same as the 2nd image in the previous post. The level of homework stealing happening feels like they're trolling. It looks like they took the Global Hawk if the Global Hawk was hastily assembled out of plasticine. Apparently North Korea's entire fleet is like this, all just hamfisted copies of other planes. You know who is definitively NOT copying ANYONE'S homework? China, because what the fuck IS this? This one seemingly state-supplied photo of the Guizhou WZ-7 Xianlong soaring over the ocean doesn't do justice to what is happening with this thing. It's still got the ass jest and V tail, but it has what looks like a set of backward wings protruding from the top of the engine right in front of the tail in a fashion I can only call unprecedented. Also, why is every picture of this thing either a rendering, the grounded at an airshow or taken with the same greased up flip phone camera used to photograph cryptids? The ass wings(??? new least favourite plane design just entered the ring) probably give enough lift to shorten the wings a significant amount, which is probably the thing that makes me like the Global Hawk the most! Because it looks like an elegant glider! Because it basically is a glider! Take that away and you're left with this two boomerangs in a trench coat bs I will never forget. Here's photo of The Creature sitting on the ground at an airsh-Ohhhh my god, oh my god, it's worse than I thought: the ass wings are ATTACHED to the other set of wings. Has anyone done this before? I don't think anyone has done this before, why would they?? What dark bureaucratic ritual could have spawned this thing? How many tears were fed into the engine to spawn a pair of wings like a parasitic twin? Was this the inspo for James Wan's Malignant??? 0/10, not cute at all, new design element added seemingly for shock value that I cannot abide by.

tbh it's funnier not knowing, coming up with new "I forgot the word photon and had to call it a shiny crumb" style name for things is more entertainment than just knowing what it actually is.

I have been paying enough attention to Airplane Shit for the last couple years to have opinions on the aesthetics of their design, and despite the Global Hawk having every design feature I usually hate to see in a plane (ass engine, goose neck, V tail) I can't help but love this very weird good boy:
Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk, a surveillance UAV, in NASA livery, idk what NASA is using it for but it's a good boy in my book since all it can do is take pictures of the ground and fly itself.Same plane (I know it doesn't have a cockpit but idk it's plane size, plane shape and has a plane engine, it's a plane) with US Airforce livery, I like the that they painted a red accent on the engine intake, this thing flies at nearly the edge of the upper atmosphere, no one's seeing that shit. One of the sensors on the nose looks makes it look like it's blowing out air like one of those illustrations of the North wind on old maps. How has no one made this thing into one of those inappropriately sexy ship/plane/tank girls? What are they called, uhhhhh Mecha Musume? No ones done it, yet I looked. Maybe they will now because one of Japan's Global Hawks crashed into the ocean on Tuesday, and maybe the perverts will learn about the good boy and make a weird GLaDOS type gijinka.Another USAF Global Hawk showing the back end of the plane while it's being worked on by ground crew. I think V tails are a crazy design choice primarily because it usually means they have more concentrated stress point at the junction of the...fins? Look I refuse to learn the proper terminology for this stuff because I know that way madness lies. I already have all the stereotypical feminine Autism interests, I can't start branching out into the masculine interests as well. I know enough to follow along with plane disaster videos and that's more than enough. Anyway. The Global Hawk avoids this structural weakness by having a space wide enough for the engine exhaust to sit between the V tail, making both elements make sense. The NASA one again, flying in profile, showing off it's goofy neck. It looks like an olm, or one of those lizards who sit around basking with their flappy chins. Apparently it's got a satellite dish inside it's bulbous, blank head. The page I copied this image from said NASA was using it to look at something to do with observing how gases affect the atmosphere or something. It was being used for some immpenetrable air science that's probably valuable to other turbo nerds (complimentary) stuff, you can't say that about the other goose neck monstrocities like the (one sec I need to look this up, I refuse to memorize their model names to maintain my casual plane guy status, there we go, found it:) the Sukhoi su-30. Even the cute attack dog tail design can't save that thing. I think China also has one that looks like that, lemme see... Yeah the J-16. Hideous.

Yeah, add on top of that most deer and bear also don't have the benefit of being killed instantly by an unseen, unknowable threat. They mostly die in terror and agony after being hit by a car. Natural predation is also hardy ever as careful as a someone with a rifle.

Trophy hunting IS dumb, but it is unfortunately now a cornerstone of animal stewardship where it is done responsibly, usually as a form of culling. We famously owe the existence of a national parks system in part to Teddy Roosevelt wanting to preserve his favourite activity for future generations.

You're right the little gadget the murderer from No Country for Old men uses is so much less scary than a gun (while functionally acting exactly like a gun that's just quiet enough not to frighten the next pig to be slaughtered or damage the ears of slaughterhouse staff).

Consider: Out of control deer populations kill more animals via environmental destruction than hobby hunters ever could. "deadly" species eradication is the reason deer run amok, so humans have to take on their deadly work to to keep the ecosystem from collapsing until predators are reintroduced.

Every time I have to get into a car with a touch screen I am consumed with unceasing rage. Tf you mean you have "8 new games available!" you're a CAR. It's illegal to look at your phone while driving, let alone play a goddamn video game. There is one touch screen and it is for controlling the CAR.

My top travel tip is to bring a big bag of peeled and salted pistachios with you. You're gonna be hungry without ready access to food, they're pretty satisfying, rich in the things your jetlagged ass needs and unless you're having premium nuts at home regulary, feel like a special treat every time.

I like the alarmingly contemporary ones like "Shut Up and Dance" or the very first episode of the show where Rory Kinnear does a tour de force as the PM who has to fuck a pig in front of the nation to save a princess. I feel like there's a salient metaphor about Brexit or something here...

What's worse is the bus and the streetcar routes involved all work on Schrodinger's bus schedule, where it's either the bus is only a few minutes away, or they're not coming at all because there was a fender bender/all six transit vehicles on the route have bunched together to form a school.

Teslakoi @teslakoi.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
What was once a short walk and 15-30 minutes on a streetcar is now three annoyingly short rides on a bus, the subway, and then another bus, OR bus-streetcar-bus. It may literally take the same amount of time on the clock but the wait times involved have functionally tripled.

I choose to believe I was being given a new allegorical tale about the inhumanity of blood quantum, parental entitlement and bridal kidnapping. This is apparently what I get for watching the episode of Planet Earth about arctic winter and Siberia while getting my hair done yesterday 😔

The mimic takes on the form of any dead body you feed it in the binding ceremony, and this one had been trapped for years pretending to be this guy's daughter because he didn't want to break up wedding plans/lose the agreed bride price/smth abt diluting the bloodline with "mixed race" tribe members.

The mimic in my dream was being married off to some guy who was part of a dying tribe in what I can only assume would have become the most violent version of the magic crane/selkie-wife story imaginable. I got the serious impression she was going to kill and eat all those dudes at the first chance.

Why my brain serve up horror folktale anthology in my dreams. I thought I was safe when I woke up briefly, but the anthology continued with a new and horrifying spin on mimics: they can be enslaved as doppelgangers but they WILL try to kill you at every turn, and comply maliciously to instruction.

Having a cat you hand raised from the age of 3 weeks old for about 16 years is peak bc you can make eye contact across a room and pat the bed and they'll just scamper over to spend the night sleeping on you like a loving, sentient beanbag.

Idk if this helps but this reminded me of an old woodblock print from Horse Fiddle Press called "Ocean and Mountain". So maybe something water or wave themed? The mountain volcanoes and the ocean are the two most tangible forces affecting the islands, so maybe female Rikishi would have oceanic names

Finally watched Project Hail Mary a few weeks ago, still can't believe that right before rolling credits, Lord and Miller snuck in that fuckass stock dolphin noise they used in every single episode of Clone High. All AAA games are kinda like this now, but Bethesda uses a dogshit engine of their own making and no design documents. You know, the files where you write the game's outline instead of waiting for Todd to approve everything personally like it's still 1998 and not a multi-national studio w 400+ staff

Mortifying. There are only two bathrooms for a 3 bedroom home AND the small business in the back. Questionable hospitality too? I've sat on enough leather furniture in shorts before and I know that shit would be worse if you're fully naked. Sure it's easy to clean with the right finish, but YIKES.

It's not quite midwest, but I wonder how many people are imagining Casa Loma a gigantic early 20thC rich guy's home in Toronto that has been in too many movies to count, but most famously the school in X-Men, and most recently as the family manor in Ready or Not.
A sunset aerial photo of Casa Loma, a large, somewhat jumbled, grey stone imitation castle that looks like something built by a Sims power user. It has a red tile roof, white stone trim, what looks like at least two round towers, a square tower, too many kinds of window, and many chimneys. Parts of Toronto's downtown is visible in the background, with old, leafy suburbs separating Casa Loma from the bustle of apartment blocks, condo towers and office sky scrapers all bunched up towards the lakefront.

I've literally ordered from this exact company before and it took less than a week to arrive because JFK is like an hour away by plane. The plane doesn't even get to reach cruising speeds before it has to slow down to land. >99% of the travel time is spent in sorting facilities.

Is the USPS okay because this package is coming from New Jersey to me in Toronto, Canada, but is currently in Sweden having passed through Zurich, according to this tracking tool... This package was sent 9 days ago, what the hell is happening.
Screenshot of USPS tracking tool detailing my package's wild ride from clearing Canadian customs, leaving JFK... Then Zurich, Switzerland... Then Arlanda, Sweden. You can drive from either New Jersey or New York City to Toronto in about 8 hours, btw.

CEOs just want those bonuses, and have rebranded mass layoffs post pandemic as "pivoting to AI" rather than admitting fault. There are even instances of laying off senior staff/entire departments during quarterly reviews only run & hire them back w larger wages bc they can't function without them.

Teslakoi @teslakoi.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
Correct, but it's even dumber! Big investors don't think long term or complexly at all, they just see quarterly returns and are ignorant of staffing. The pandemic gave them free money, and they're stupid enough to expect number to keep going up even after the govt revoked their free money pass-

The business of games is tops my list of thing you cannot listen to online commentary and fans on, as they talk about it under the lens of entertainment and culture when in reality executives view games as technology investments, not gambling for prestige points with tiny margins like in Film/Music.

Xbox had a CEO the Microsoft higher ups trusted and basically had carte blanche to do whatever for 10+yrs, so this was largely regular business idiocy. Like, Microsoft's AI losses factored in, but weren't the primary cause. Jason Schrier has and excellent breakdown here: youtu.be/wfJ8qreLv8k?...
