when I played the PS2 Ace Combat games my feelings on 4/5 was that 4 was neat but 5 was what really hooked me, and I feel like 7 and 8 have a similar dynamic going on 7 was fun, but 8 hits like a freight train by comparison, I don't think it's coincidental that 8's overall plot feels similar to 7
