What's more troubling, to me, is that it takes these companies so long to come clean about their mistakes. Luckily, the false report was flagged as spam in the police system, but it still took Anthropic three months to disclose the event, even though they knew about it a month ago.

So Anthropic's Claude "went rogue" and filed a homicide report with Philadelphia police? Did it really "go rogue"? Or did it do what it was asked in a way that its operator(s) failed to anticipate? The agents don't operate in a vacuum, and there's always a human behind their actions.

Weaponizing Conspiracy Theory: The Dangers in Priming People for Armed Revolution
Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities. The words of the French Enlightenment philosopher Voltaire above have often, in recent years, been used to explain the madness of religious terrorism. By getting lost in a belief system, one can often lose their moral compass (or perhaps more correctly, have it ‘re-aligned’), and by submitting to that belief system, also surrender their agency. In the last couple of years, however, Voltaire’s statement has often come to […]

Legendary Spy Plane Secretly Recommissioned by NASA
The SR-71 Blackbird spy plane could be considered the crown jewel of Lockheed’s legendary ‘Skunk Works’ department, at the height of the Cold War. Built almost entirely out of titanium, it was a flying platform so revolutionary for its time that it could simply fly higher and faster than anything the Soviets could throw at it—if they could even detect it at all, given its reduced radar cross-section. The SR-71 was so elusive that to this day the CIA still […]
