Favorite days are when I invite friends over and cook a big meal and we hang around shooting the shit for hours. Did a big brunch for a friend's birthday last Saturday. Started at 11 a.m., last of the crew didn't leave till 10 p.m. When we got sick of indoors we took the kids for a walk in the rain.

On my first big overseas client conference, I was at a dinner seated next to a drunk client who kept trying to fondle me under the table. I was young, distressed, and had no idea what to do. I moved my legs as far away from him as I could, moving into the space of the man next to me, who then started patting my legs! The Regional Manager was a French woman who caught my eye, gestured for me to go to the bathroom and when I came back had switched chairs with me. What happed next was epic. A few minutes after I sat back down, she raised her hand with his hand captured in hers and announced loudly "Does anyone know whose hand this is? I found it in my lap." There was dead silence at the table. She threw his hand back at him and said calmly "next time I pick it up with my fork." Then she started a new conversational thread and things moved on. After the meeting she found me, gave me a hug, and said seriously "Never be afraid to make some noise. It is their shame, not yours."

Usha knows she cannot escape with her kids at this point. The kids are the hostages. At this level of power, going against Vance in a divorce and custody battle would be disastrous for her. Sticking with it, she probably feels, is her only choice to have influence over her kids & protect them.

My baby signs "more" when she wants me to open the container of blocks or open the baby gate and let her in the other room. She signs "all done" the second I put her in the high chair before she even starts eating, because it doesn't matter how hungry she is. She just hates the high chair.

This is incredibly common right now. "More" is the first sign we teach, followed by "all done" so they can communicate when they want more food or feel full. But they don't understand those concepts. So the signs attach to the concepts they know "want" and "stop this"l
