I hope someone can pass this story along to @janegoodall.org. I was 6, in 1st grade (1993), when I first heard of Jane in my reading textbook, but thought she was made up. I thought all things in the reading textbook were made up! I was THRILLED to discover she was real in 3rd grade. 🧵

I went to a pop-up holiday market and this white lady selling hand made ceramic earrings was proudly displaying the political message left by an assassin on bullet casings after a successful murder so that’s a bit of a data point for Where Things Are

One of my favorite grassroots mutual aid movements is that of the little free library. Here is mine; I have both a pantry box and a library box. There are definitely valid criticisms of the movement (for instance, that they appear primarily in gentrified/rich areas and less elsewhere) but

There needs to be a Bechdel Test but for whether a wheelchair character can exist in a movie without every conversation involving him/her revolving around their disability. (WICKED would not pass this.)
