Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 19hThere was once a burger joint off the M11 near my workplace outside Cambridge that made burgers between two Yorkshire Puddings! 😋 000
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 20hVery true! At least I know when the HW is set to heat, and for 5 ish months of the year I have data for it, I’m just being picky! :) 000
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Biggest grumble about Octopus is that I can’t disaggregate HW from CH output. Or at least not easily or well! 100
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Not widely different from my own numbers for 1 year of data from a Cosy 9 on Intelligent Go. SPF of 3.86 and “roughly” 19p/kWh average cost. It varies wildly though on a monthly basis. January’s early cold spell has a lot to answer for - a pricey month in comparison! 100
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 12/10/2026In centuries to come linguists will enjoy explaining the origins of the name! 😄 000
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Exciting weekend at work running a stand at New Scientist Live, sharing the work we do at the Henry Royce Institute to support materials science research in the UK. @newscientist.com #materialsscience 031
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 09/10/2026It’s a shame the newly launched “smart charts” are so bad in the app. It looks like it could be great for outlining device usage (and per device pricing as you suggest), but my goodness they are worse than useless right now…! 010
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Herb use at Empire for monsters is another great example of @wulfboyraff.bsky.social demonstration. Having more than “few” herbs, means you can use “some” without worry you will have “none”. Very hard to know if there are enough overall though…! 130
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Pretty much the same cost as our gas bill had been, but much better in terms of how the house was heated. 010
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Interested to see what others are doing here. Last winter I ran ASHP 21/7 on Intelligent Go, modifying temp up/down during various parts of the day, with 3 hours off during the 4-7pm peak. Average price was about 19-20p/kWh. Agile worked out at about 15% cheaper. Cosy would have been 7% pricier. 110
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Solidarity! A town house over 4 floors compounds the issue too. 😂😂😂 010
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 07/10/2026100%. I think I managed sub 19p/kWh across the 7 months of space heating last winter on Intelligent Go, without a battery! Only barrier to getting more out of heat pump overnight is my body’s unwillingness to sleep well at 19 Celsius and above! 😆 100
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Feels like Tom could have put more effort into each role… 120
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I’ve always found them adorable and hilarious in equal measure. 😂 000
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I’m basically driving around in an obscene publication! 000

Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The history of the Roman Empire can easily include the study of Lincoln, coming from someone who was fascinated as a kid by the archaeology underneath the city in which he grew up… 🥁 😆 000

Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 23/09/2026“Free food” downstairs today in our institute was “lots of salad”. Many sad faces… 😂 220
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 20/09/2026BitD doesn’t come with a selection of little plastic character models that I could use in my Necromunda games… 🤷♂️ Why not both? 010
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 02/09/2026The mile per 1kWh feels very different when there are 50 people on it, compared to 2 in my 4 miles per kWh EV! Considering the distances that most coaches travel, the size and efficiency barely seems a problem with a battery that big! 030
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I live on the edge of the Peaks and visited Cambridge last weekend. Very much agree with that assessment! Looks like we are getting “some” rain in the NW today! ☂️ 110
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 27/08/2026FWIW… the central field at Empire and our current battle size is upwards of 550 square foot per person (24-ft square). Actual ranked units are going to be between 3 and 10-ft squares depending on weapons and fighting style. 120

Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 10/08/2026I’d be more worried about fish remembering when Shakespeare wrote a new play tbh… 😂 010
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Yep! Scope for doing more “investigate, iterate, overcome” style too. Players need to work outside the encounter to prepare others for the next skirmish. 010
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 06/08/2026It is a long term project no lie. Every ghillie suit or camo net helps! There is more that could be done with current setup that moves us in the right direction with encounter design too. 010
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I’ve had thoughts on this area. Certainly doable if we can mix up our normal modus operandi. Defo one for after dark encounters and random lighting. With effort I think the Vallorn could be pushed further with the repeated risk elements to spread the “love” (spores) out more. 210
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Phil, trying _really_ hard to get the most out of his min-maxed trenching character build. 050
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Does the 4m height restriction limit installs to first floor balconies only? Or am I reading that wrong? 000
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I have yet to experience a swish cape. I remain expectant. 010
Tom Hancocks @tehancocks.bsky.social · 06/08/2026The plight of the elves diminishing and heading out from the Grey Havens becomes all the more tragic when “The West”, aka “Valinor”, is understood to be an allegory for Lancashire… 120
