The tiny (1.7 mm) water beetle Ochthebius marinus was plentiful in muddy ditch edges at Cowpen Marsh (North Tees) today. As its name suggests, this is a species of saltmarshes and brackish pools. There are 8 coastal Ochthebius species in GB but only 2 occur in Cleveland. @teesbirds.bsky.social
