Scaling Dam: Colour ringed Mute Swan on 2nd September, probably the one present for weeks. Yellow ring with characters 39Y4. I cannot find the ringing scheme but have a feeling it is from the Lower Derwent Valley. Can anyone help? @nybirdnews.bsky.social @teesbirds.bsky.social

Nosterfield: the Caspian Tern flew around Flask Lake for about 15 minutes, occasionally diving into the water with no success then flew off north easterly at 1220. I assumed it would come back but have heard no mention of it since. Brilliant un-ringed adult. @nybirdnews.bsky.social

40 years ago today I had the good fortune to find this juvenile Ivory Gull on Saltburn Beach, before work and in a blizzard. Not the rarest bird I have found but perhaps the most dramatic. It stayed for a week and was widely twitched. @nybirdnews.bsky.social @teesbirds.bsky.social
