The 9 Movies That Shaped Who I am #my9movies What a fun way this was to look back at movies throughout my life. Much like Ivy I had to restrict Disney movies to just one. On a similar note Gladiator, besides being there on its own right, also represents 00s historical epic movies www.my9movies.com

Finally playing Trails in the Sky remake 🤩 Got it as a treat to myself. I'm loving how faithful it is to the original, and how different yet same it is. Writing, graphic design, music and gameplay are all just delightful.

Share a 70s movie you will always love I could name so many classics like "Alien", but watching "My Name is Trinity" and "Trinity is Still My Name" with my dad as a kid is a special memory for me. Dad was born 1961 and saw the movies in the 70s, and he wanted to watch them with me. Fun movies, too!

My laptop died on me today and I spent the entire day getting it back up and running. At some point I was very worried the SSD had failed and I even had to open the laptop. I'm so glad I didn't give up even if I felt like doing so. 💪 Of course, all my data and stuff is gone now 🥲

Steam Replay 2025 was at first a surprise, but I guess it checks out. It's been busy, stressful enough year that my top 3 is solely chill building games. Also, in general, just less hours in Steam games.
Steam Replay 2025. Games played: 73. Achievements unlocked: 155. Longest streak: 24 days. Cities: Skylines (12% play time, 77 sessions played); Satisfactory (10% play time, 36 sessions played), OpenTTD (6% play time, 16 sessions played).

Anyone who enjoyed Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3 would enjoy Viconia DeVir in Baldur's Gate 2. The two women hit some similar notes due to them both being drow, but they are also vastly different. Viconia one of the first to teach to me as a kid how multifaceted video game characters can be.

TGA was wild! What I am looking forward to the most: FOTOR with Casey Hudson at the head?! Sign me up. I'm always in for any new Remedy stuff, but Control is one of my favorite games. Total War: Warhammer 40k looks really cool. Funnily I'm not really into 40k, but for strategy games it just works.

Like the Down of a Thistle, Sarah Swan Lesbian romance story in 18th century Scotland. Immersive as heck, really takes you into its story world. It is deftly written and engaging, raw in many senses - raw, passionate emotions abound in the story, which could've had little more pauses to breathe.

The Future of Nostalgia, Svetlana Boym A non-fiction book I want to feature here, an amazing read on nostalgia combining memoir, academic historical analysis and philosophical essays. A ton of insight into human condition that made me have to put the book down and just think. Long staying power.

The Dying Earth, Jack Vance A collection of six related but fairly independent stories set in far future where the sun is growing dim, the world is worn-out yet strange to the point it's just fantasy fiction. The original inspiration for D&D magic system! Really liked this read; engaging and fun.
Cover depicts a slightly surreal landscape more barren than not, differences what is human-made and what is landscape is not always clear.

Three Hearts and Three Lions, Poul Anderson A WW2 era Dane ends up in a parallel fantasy world, in which Law and Chaos struggle for dominance. A surprisingly fun story & really enchanting worldbuilding. Really liked! Fun fact: 3H3L is one of the foundational inspirations for Dungeons & Dragons.

My Saturday resting and chilling consists of playing Heroes of Might & Magic III and Cities Skylines. HoMM3 was one of my big childhood favorites and I return to it every few years, every time with somewhat fresh eyes. I am, again, astounded how well this game has aged. It's just like a fine wine 💙

The Eye of the World, Robert Jordan Love when books take their time and let me smell the roses, but EOTW was often just meandering, even repetitive. Copies more Tolkien than Fionavar ever did. However, EOTW hints at, even promises, a rich world and an interesting story. I will check out the sequel.

The Wandering Fire, Guy Gavriel Kay Second book in Fionavar series picks up after the first one. Classic fantasy in a way that is clearly inspired by Tolkien and traditional myths, but also is legitimately its own thing. Makes me anticipate reading the third book of the trilogy.

Gardens of the Moon, Steven Erikson Re-reading the first Malazan book was an interesting experience. Book's _relative_ weaknesses compared to rest of the series are more apparent, but there was also newfound appreciation for a lot of things you'd catch only on a re-read. Love the series a lot!

The Summer Tree, Guy Gavriel Kay Five university students end up in fictional fantasy world of Fionavar. Didn't hook me until after a bit, but I really enjoyed this read. I have some gripes, but none really ruin the book. A good classic fantasy book, told in a way where prose and setting match.
Cover depicts a wolf, two corvid birds on the forefront and a blood-colored moon and erupting volcano in the background.

Before starting Strange New Worlds season 3, doing a rewatch of seasons 1 and 2. Gosh dagnabbit I forgot how good it is from the very first episodes. I love basically every character both new and legacy, but Spock is worth mentioning separately just because how established the character is in Trek.

The Crippled God, Steven Erikson It's a testament to Erikson's mastery of the craft that he sticks the landing in a series as complex and sprawling as Malazan Book of the Fallen. This is a truly grand epic and a satisfying conclusion to a series spanning ten massive books. 10/10. Unbelievable.
Cover for the Crippled God shows the back of a lone man on a battlefield with a sword and shield, facing something that seems to emerge from blazing light.

Rimrunners, C. J. Cherryh Another one from Cherryh in the A/U Universe. Homeless marine tries to hide her real identity and ends up on a ship hunting her old comrades. Didn't like as much as the previous one, but Cherryh's setting-work continues to be amazing and characters feel very real.

My mom has a super power. If I put it mildly, she's not a fan of mice, rats, hamsters, any sort of rodents. Lagomorphs, animals like rabbits and hares, she doesn't mind at all. She actually loves them. She instinctively found a pika, a lagomorph, adorable while recoils at a degu, a rodent. How?!
