If you haven't read/listened to James by Percival Everett, do it now. It is a profound, life-altering masterpiece of a book. Reimagining Huck Finn from Jim’s perspective, it is sharp, brilliant, and devastating - one of my top 10 books of all time. 📖✨🛶 #BookSky #PercivalEverett

Doodles are the besting fishing dogs. My labradoodle, Clover, often tries to help cast, and land the fish. Once she even save a fish that broke free right at shore. She had none of that and jumped into the water and gently retrieved the fish with only a couple of small punctures. 🐶❤️🎣

Juneau has nearly broken the all-time record snowfall. The kids celebrated making the 3rd highest snowfall ever by sledding down out 9’+ pile of snow in our front yard. There is a fence and then a ditch, it you can’t even tell.

In pre-marked trading today (Sunday) oil futures are up over 25% to nearly $115/barrel. South Korea had to halt trading because of selloff trigger alarms. Hang on, Monday is going to be rough for a lot of US investors.

Who else remembers when the US invaded Iraq in August of 1990? I also remember that the stock market fell 18% in 8 weeks, and oil prices doubled. We are still in the very early days of economic uncertainty.

This is connected to the Cascade Point ferry terminal that Dunleavy already used DOT $$ to pay to build a barge ore loading ramp. They plan to truck the ore to Berners Bay and ship it out for processing. Here’s a pic I took 5 years ago, hiking up into the area where the mine will be built.

What an amazing night for the Aurora in Juneau, Alaska. It was some of the best I’ve seen here and my teenage daughter got to see a good show for the first time. She said it was like dancing with spirits, soaring and frolicking across vast distances of sky.

Aurora in Juneau, Alaska, 1/20/26. At 5:15 a.m. I woke up my 13-year-old. We went outside and stood, awestruck as the shapes danced and pulsated above our heads. We marveled at how small and connected we both felt to universe. It was a beautiful way to start the day.

It was one of those magical warm summer weekends in Southeast Alaska. The temps were in the 70s on top of the mountain, where the dog was so tied she laid down and fell asleep. I buried my head in many creeks. I didn’t take enough pictures because they couldn’t represent the beauty. #alaskasky
