Hey it's #flockfriday again - time for more of Richard Hogg's wonderful concept art!

concept art of the Star-shaped plaza in the grasslands, showing a meadow in the centre. This image was my desktop wallpaper for about the second half of development.

Drawing of the plaza at the end of the bridge, showing the architcture and planting.

an early drawing of the campsite, side-on, with an NPC standing in the foreground.

some drawings of trees, some with pink foliage.

Discworld QOTD, from Maskerade

There was a wicked ole witch once called Black Aliss. She was an unholy terror. There's never been one worse or more powerful. Until now. Because I could spit in her eye and steal her teeth, see. Because she didn't know Right from Wrong, so she got all twisted up, and that was the end of her.

"The trouble is, you see, that if you do know Right from Wrong, you can't choose Wrong. You just can't do it and live. So.. if I was a bad witch I could make Mister Salzella's muscles turn against his bones and break them where he stood... if I was bad. I could do things inside his head, change the shape he thinks he is, and he'd be down on what had been his knees and begging to be turned into a frog... if I was bad. I could leave him with a mind like a scrambled egg, listening to colors and hearing smells...if I was bad. Oh yes." There was another sigh, deeper and more heartfelt.
"But I can't do none of that stuff. That wouldn't be Right."

She gave a deprecating little chuckle. And if Nanny Ogg had been listening, she would have resolved as follows: that no maddened cackle from Black Aliss of infamous memory, no evil little giggle from some crazed Vampyre whose morals were worse than his spelling, no side-splitting guffaw from the most inventive torturer, was quite so unnerving as a happy little chuckle from a Granny Weatherwax about to do what's best.

Another day, another remarkable cosmic map. The European Southern Observatory's VISTA telescope has completed the most detailed infrared survey of our galaxy: 200,000 images capturing 1.5 billion objects. So much beauty when you dig down into the details. 🧪🔭 www.eso.org/public/news/...

This collage highlights a small selection of regions of the Milky Way imaged as part of the most detailed infrared map ever of our galaxy. Here we see, from left to right and top to bottom: NGC 3576, NGC 6357, Messier 17, NGC 6188, Messier 22 and NGC 3603. All of them are clouds of gas and dust where stars are forming, except Messier 22, which is a very dense group of old stars.

The images were captured with ESO’s Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA) and its infrared camera VIRCAM. The gigantic map to which these images belong contains 1.5 billion objects. The data were gathered over the course of 13 years as part of the VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea (VVV) survey and its companion project, the VVV eXtended survey (VVVX).

It does break my heart to see all the art on twitter being deleted. A huge archive of art, just gone forever. But it's nice to be here instead either way, it feels more real, and much less bot-y

reading an online discussion about fairy shrimp and someone remarked that "what they lack in charisma, they make up in vigor" and maybe I'm just hopelessly bug-pilled but I think these sad little feathers with the dot eyes deserve at least some universal cute credit

simple ms paint drawing of a fairy shrimp from above, from the side, and head on. the shrimp has two antennae and many legs facing upwards, with black eyes and a long forked tail.

I know I reposted this comic earlier but I genuinely think this is one of this most important messages for people to understand about the current media landscape. It’s not that easy digestible art exists, it’s that they want us to socially police ourselves into ONLY creating easy digestible art
