*cartoon villain voice* Oh so you like home-cooked meals, eh?! Well I've just SHAT on an UNSEASONED tiny piece of raw chicken, and I've thrown ALL the rest of the chicken away. Behold my cunning trap: you must defend my shitchicken, or join the "home-cooked meals are bad" side. Either way I've won.

I am intrigued and delighted by the audacious viral concept of Le Wokisme. Two simple syllables, but how they sing, and titillate a whole world of new thoughts... When Mahomet trumps Marianne, when even skin color is deadly serious, when they believe in a third sex: what is it, but Le Wokisme?

Or maybe just "let's sell our product to various demographics. Now do one for 'young leftists'..." and the AI's chain of thought landed on "the main thing to dispel in THIS case is the common mockery of AI psychosis among leftists. It's not 'pathology'! It's [insert thing the demographic likes]"

Here's a possibility: tech bro thinks "AI will save the world, we just need to make everyone embrace it, even libtards..." prompt="make an ad about how AI friends are good, tailored to WOKE DEGENERATES". Result=antiwoke clichés of what woke ppl are about: died hair, red star, "it's not pathology".

It would be "d'estable" in this case I think, and yes estable is the old French word for a horse stable (in contemporary French it's "étable", without the S).

(this is intended as a lil educational addendum to your joke, just in case someone would enjoy learning weird French stereotypes about Great Britain) I think the entirety of the joke is 1- there's a sacred ritual called "teatime", and 2- the French word "weekend" is borrowed from English

It's annoying that she's not the one doing the backing oohs and aahs after her verse... It must be meant to mimic the story, wow so clever, but then it's doing it wrong: if we're stuck to the man's PoV, then her haunting him would work. If we're not, HIS voice should stop, change the chorus or smth

what made me first notice the extent of the damage was looking up medical stuff on duckduckgo... "Tonsil tumor" makes some fucking model make the whole TONGUE and TEETH like wrinkly suppurating tonsils. Fucked-up textures is where GANs could shine once the dust settles and they're used thoughtfully

All the translations of Asterix names are some reference to their job or vibe too... Seems like there used to be a weird translator school of thought, all about trying to squeeze more fun out by making it extra cartoonish.

Frame from the Mitchell and Webb sketch "Are we the baddies?" focusing on Mitchell in an SS uniform, except instead of the actual subtitle (which would say "Are we the baddies?") there's the following quote from the Chotiner interview: "So now I am the bad guy?"

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an astroturfing campaign attempting to give bluesky a reputation as one-track and not ideal for people who want something other than a political focus (in order to make bluesky even less likely to ever rise as a serious competitor to X).

I wonder if the language actually CREATES the fineness of your perception... I never learned Fahrenheit and I can only feel differences of 2°C or 3°C lol. Like speakers of a language with 10 colors between "green" and "blue" (rather than just teal) would probably score better in nuance perception

Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 16/06/2026
Just to deflate the boring "contest" vibe: I hereby acknowledge Europe is clearly inferior in most ways. Fahrenheit is better than Celcius because "percentage of ULTIMATE HEAT" is intuitive. It's just that if I used it, I'd think in 5% slices and not "oh no it's only 83°F, 84°F feels SO much better"
000
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 16/06/2026
Depends on which human... I can't feel the difference between 26°C and 29°C. I can maaaybe tell the difference in 2 or 3°C increments in some ranges (like around 17°C). I think abnormally perceptive ppl are much more likely to chime in when this topic is brought up. It's like perfect pitch to me

It's about control IMO. It takes courage to accept that, from now on, you'll depend on a device so advanced that you can't fix/maintain it yourself and be beholden forever to some company. (Other too-complex-to-control tech are generally not things you truly DEPEND on to merely get through the day)

I don't know about "virtuous" but the higher, the SCARIER is is. If something breaks you have no hope in hell of repairing it yourself... If you're in a financial rut you might be fucked. It takes a lot of courage to let go of the mere POSSIBILITY of some shitty temporary fix, should the need arise.

But I see what you're saying, there could be another box at the beginning saying "death is the worst thing that could happen to me" and then this whole flowchart stems from the "Y" branch, and another flowchart (with YOUR branch) stems from "N".
000
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
Makes sense. I guess it's unspoken because this chart's purpose is to challenge ppl who think blue is a gamble: it shows that EVEN if you refuse all risk, sometimes you should pick blue. That's what "correct" means in the title. By that standard, adding your own death to the toll counts as incorrect
100
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
yeah no need for emotions. I'm just saying "uncertainty" being possible changes the best answer. If you're not 100% sure everyone will do what's best, then aiming for a blue victory is the ideal most self-interested choice (no corpses to deal with VS risk of some corpses to deal with).
000
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
I think (hope??) that those who choose red just picture "everyone picks red" very strongly for whatever reason, and it feels so settled to them that it makes other possibilities seem flimsy & irrelevant. I wanna believe that cuz that's better than so many ppl being like "I DON'T CARE IF OTHERS DIE!"
000
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
Here's a flowchart lol. Don't get me wrong most people (including me) pick blue for bad emotional reasons, but it can also often be the objective best logical choice if you allow uncertainty/mistakes/whatever in the puzzle. You're probably on branch "E", and blue defenders are mostly "B" or "C".
Flowchart titled "The correct choice depends on your assumptions".

1st box: "Is zero strangers dying a better outcome than some strangers dying?". If no, pick red (choice A)
If yes, go to the 2nd box.
2nd box: "Do most (or all) people reason like me?". If Yes, most, pick blue (choice B). If yes, all, go to the 4th box. If no, go to the third box.
3rd box: "Will the people who don't reason like me and pick red for their own reasons be a majority?". If no, pick blue (choice C). If yes, pick red (choice D).
4th box: "Is there a chance someone might pick blue by mistake?". If no, pick red (choice E). If yes, pick blue (choice F).
110
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
What if "I'm not exceptional so there's a big chunk of humankind (for example 60%) who will go through the same thoughts as me" is true? Then, settling on "red" means those 60% will also pick red. So this group settling on blue instead can be helpful (might save accidental/clumsy/dumb blue-pickers)

Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
If uncertainty or mistakes are possible, then the optimal answer is sometimes blue & the "selfishness vs selflessness" thing might apply! It all depends on how simplified the question's world is. It's not SUPER deep but there are different valid answers & it's fun to see where people's instincts are

Sociopaths aren't rare but I don't wanna believe they are THAT common... Maybe there's a random brain trait 40% of people have that somehow makes "everyone picks red!" feel within reach, like it's actually THERE. Wanting to simplify reality is better than "not caring about senseless deaths" at least
000
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 02/05/2026
It's logically correct in some cases: if rational people want to achieve "0 deaths" (less corpses to deal with!), don't know FOR SURE literally everyone else will press red, and are enough to be the deciding voting block. I think blue-defenders assume those are true (mostly on an instinctive level)

Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
No-one who's "team blue" because of THESE ideas can say "team red" is wrong, it's just a difference in your estimations of what other people might think, which you probably have no choice but to pull out of your ass, ultimately...
110
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
Makes sense. That's where the whole "voting block of people who reason like you" part comes in for me: let's say 20% of people will go through the same lines of thinking as me, then a line of thinking that convinces me to pick blue will weigh 20%. But yeah at this point it's a fuzzier kind of logic
110
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
yeah I've drifted a LOT from that point, true 😅 I think "I'd rather risk death than risk grieving others" can be a valid preference, so not technically irrational by logician standards, but yeah in everyday speech that would be called "irrational" by most lol, I wouldn't use that to promote blue
110
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
right, my bad, for the first choice I should've written "either 2nd-best OR best"... But my point also works with that I think: couldn't some rational agents value "increasing the chances of 0-deaths, but risking survival" over "ensuring survival, but decreasing the chances of 0-deaths"?
100
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
Like if "0 deaths" is best and "only OTHERS die" is 2nd-best, will a rational agent prefer "guaranteed 2nd-best" to "an unknown chance at the best outcome, and an unknown risk of the worst"? Depends on the agent, right? So even if "estimating" counts as irrational, some will pick blue randomly
100
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
not sure this will make sense, but: if estimating other people's choices just isn't allowed at all, then wouldn't a rational agent who finds itself in the "anything goes" situation be forced to pick randomly rather than backing up to the previous box & answering "N"? this is fun to think about 😆
100
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
(sorry if I'm being a third wheel lol, it kinda seemed like a public debate)... I think the flowchart supports pigmy wurm's first reply: a rational person with no emotions will prefer "zero people die" (less corpses to deal with & more potentially useful living people) & then sometimes reach "blue"
110
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
Blue is logically sound if rational people are numerous enough (and believe they're numerous enough) to be the deciding voting block, but still not 100% certain no-one will pick blue. I think you're in branch "E" or "D" of the flowchart below; blue-pickers have different assumptions

110
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
Yeah, that makes sense! This might just be boring semantics, but: red is "the correct answer" only if it's obvious enough. If 49% are misled & will pick blue, 49% red, and the rest (including you!) try to get the best outcome, blue actually IS correct (even tho that's due to irrationality)
110
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
Just to be clear "the more, the better" stops being true if there are 50+% "easily misled people". Then everyone survives no matter what, and your choice does nothing. This is probably the case in practice TBH, I suspect nearly all blue-pickers are just like "everyone lives sounds nice"
000
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 01/05/2026
But the wrong answer NEEDS to be highly appealing for the thought experiment to be interesting... The more people might be misled by the phrasing, the more beneficial it is for the others to pick blue (having 0 deaths to deal with is the best outcome)! So the phrasing changes the best answer
210
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 30/04/2026
lmao try as I may I just CAN'T be bored by it even though I know I'm supposed to, I have no idea why. I always endlessly enjoy shit like this, like how The Dress splits humankind in half... Are you and white-and-goldist or a black-and-bluer? My special interest is "pointless disagreement" I guess
the meme known as The Dress: a bad photograph of a dress which appears, to some White/Gold and to others Black/Blue
110
Frank @teapotchamomile.bsky.social · 30/04/2026
Yeah people arguing over this almost never truly DISAGREE, they're just engaging in totally different activities (solving a logic puzzle, OR imagining a real-world moral choice between "take a risk to ensure no-one dies" vs "ensure your own safety, but the most clumsy/dumb/colorblind will die")
Table with two columns and two rows.

Each column answers the following question: Are we in the real world or in an ideal "logic puzzle world" (where everyone is universally known to be a perfect logician)? Column 1 says Real world. Column 2 says Logic puzzle world.

Each row answers the following question: what is the goal? Row A says Self-preservation. Row B says Achieving zero deaths.

Cell A1 : Pick red.
(if you think the aftermath of potential mass death is bad for self-preservation, see below)

Cell B1: Everyone WILL pick red.

Cell A2: If most people are mistrustful or selfish, the goal is unattainable. Pick red and weep!!!! Otherwise: Pick blue. In practice a majority seems to believe this sector of the table is true.

Cell B2: If mistakes have a small chance of occurring: nearly everyone will pick blue. Otherwise: everyone will pick red. Those who defend red are mostly HERE, not in the more cold-hearted "pick red" scenarios!
