This photo does NOT do justice to how steep this section was! But today I went on my first big walk since my #anklefusion. 10.8km and 4h 48min. Now in my bed after a lovely bath. Knackered!

A section of bush track. Trees stretching overhead and a path wending through them. The roots of the trees help to make step-shaped places to put your feet. Which you need, as this was VERY STEEP!

Excellent weekend of #kobudo (weapons) training with Kyoshi Takuma Higashi, 8th Dan instructor. Didn’t go so well for my Sensei’s #nunchaku (that he was given by his Sensei many years ago). Was quite dramatic when I smashed the Bo with them and a piece flew across the room! Oops.

I ran a very successful joint 50th Taskmaster birthday party on the weekend. I’ve been planning this since January - okay I’ve been planning this for about nine years actually. But it was amazing and super fun and I’m pretty sure everybody enjoyed themselves!

#Taskmaster birthday party tonight. I went to the op shop to see if I could get a fabric similar to the taskmaster background. Found this lace for three dollars and I’ve got it in front of a black bed sheet. Not bad eh! I’ve also borrowed a throne from the drama department at school. Can’t wait!

This is the moment I pressed submit on an application I’ve had written since February. It’s for a teacher sabbatical - one term off to do some research next year. The application period is open, I have permission from my principal and the BoT to apply, so now it’s just a waiting game!

Round two, Evensong. Sang a range of bangers including Locus iste. Ayleward responses, Stanford Mag & Nunc, Stanford psalm 150, and Ye Holy Angels Bright with last verse descant. Here’s a bit of the rehearsal; Tenor heavy because of where I’m sat. But I love this piece.

A double dose of church today. Arrived at 9:30 to find we had a power cut. Luckily the power came back in in time to get the sound board fired up and sound checks done before 10am! No heating though :(

Tested the #anklefusion with a 5km (ish) walk on the new #TeAraTupua to #Welly today. Bit sore but glad I did it!

Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride day! I look like my Dad.
