star clusters ✨
Messier 53. A glowing cluster of white stars against black space, with the stars more closely concentrated at the center.Thousands of bright stars fill a spherically shaped globular cluster. In the center, most of the stars appear blue. The globular cluster’s bright blue-white core is surrounded by a thick shell of yellower stars, seen in differing sizes according to their position in the spherical star cluster. They spread out beyond the edges of the image, appearing smaller and sparser at the corners of the image. A distant spiral galaxy is also visible in the lower-left corner of the image.Several white and blue stars with diffraction spikes shine against black space. This image shows several stars shining against a black backdrop of space. The stars shine in hues of white, orange and blue, and some have four-pointed diffraction spikes.

An image made of three panels. The largest on the left shows the NIRCam image of a nebula with two bright stars. A skewed box in the top-right points to a second panel on the right, with a MIRI image of that area. A tiny box in the centre of that panel is blown up in a third panel below, with a zoomed-in, combined MIRI and NIRCam image of a yellow and orange blob.

WAKE UP BABE, THE FIRST NEW HUBBLE IMAGE OF 2025 DROPPED!!!
Many mostly small, bright objects scattered over a dark background in space. In the top half on the right is an elliptical galaxy, a round light larger than the others, with a slightly warped ring of light around it. In the bottom half there is a barred spiral galaxy, big enough that we can see its bluish arms and its core in detail. Other objects include distant galaxies and nearby stars.

the core of the omega nebula 🌌 image credit: eso
It shows the dusty pink central parts of this well-known stellar cradle, revealing extraordinary details in this cosmic landscape of clouds of gas, dust and newborn stars.

The colorful gas and darkened dust of the Omega Nebula are the raw materials for the creation of the next generation of stars. In this particular area of the nebula, the newest stars on the scene—dazzlingly bright and shimmering bluish-white—illuminate the entire ensemble. The nebula's smoky-looking dust ribbons are silhouetted against a background of incandescent gas. The dominant reddish colors, which spread over this part in the form of a cloud, arise from hydrogen in the form of gas, which shines under the influence of the intense rays of ultraviolet light emanating from the hot young stars.

A circular-shaped nebula with a complex structure. On the circle’s exterior, particularly on the left side of the image, are curtains of material glowing orange like fire. Interior to this outer shell is a ring of mottled filaments in bright pink, studded with clumps and knots. A greenish loop extends from the upper right of the ring into the central cavity. Translucent wisps of blue, green, and red appear throughout the image.

everyone had this image as their background at some point
The image is divided horizontally by an undulating line between a cloudscape forming a nebula along the bottom portion and a comparatively clear upper portion. Speckled across both portions is a starfield, showing innumerable stars of many sizes. The smallest of these are small, distant, and faint points of light. The largest of these appear larger, closer, brighter, and more fully resolved with 8-point diffraction spikes. The upper portion of the image is blueish, and has wispy translucent cloud-like streaks rising from the nebula below. The orangish cloudy formation in the bottom half varies in density and ranges from translucent to opaque. The stars vary in color, the majority of which, have a blue or orange hue. The cloud-like structure of the nebula contains ridges, peaks, and valleys – an appearance very similar to a mountain range. Three long diffraction spikes from the top right edge of the image suggest the presence of a large star just out of view.

webb and chandra combined images 🤩
This is a composite image of star cluster NGC 602, in vibrant and festive colors. The shape of the star cluster strongly resembles a holiday wreath. The cluster includes a giant dust cloud ring, shown in greens, yellows, blues, and oranges. The green hues and feathery edges of the ring cloud create the appearance of a wreath made of evergreen boughs. Hints of red representing X-rays provide shading, highlighting layers within the wreath-like ring cloud.

The image is aglow with specks and dots of colorful, festive light, in blues, golds, whites, oranges, and reds. These lights represent stars within the cluster. Some of the lights gleam with diffraction spikes, while others emit a warm, diffuse glow. Upon closer inspection, many of the glowing specks have spiraling arms, indicating that they are, in fact, distant galaxies.

ArcandIn this composite image, a bright, massive star, WR 124, gleams with diffraction spikes, surrounded by a churning wind cloud in reds and purples. With its dusty rose coloring, and the bright, gleaming star at its core, the wind cloud resembles the inside of a delicate flower with opening petals. Dozens of other bright stars surround WR 124, including white dots rimmed with neon purple, and gleaming white dots with cool blue diffraction spikes. The purple dots are stars detected with Chandra.

MajorThe is an infrared image with data from Webb. It resembles a rust brown mountain range backed by a hazy blue night sky. The entire image is filled with stars. The right half of this graphic is a large, square composite image combining the two smaller images’ data, Chandra lends its magenta touches to the top right of the original Webb frame.

Image credit: X-ray: NASA/CXC/Univ. Observ. Munich/T. Preibisch et al.; IR: NASA/ESA/CSA/STScIWebb's view shows fluffy tan-colored nebula clouds with rust-colored highlights surrounding a black central area. Within that area, the focal point of the image is one large yellow star with eight long thin points. To the right of this star is a bright star cluster in an oval shape. The stars within the cluster look like tiny blue sparkles. The cluster is more densely packed at its core and scatters outward. Towards the bottom of the image, multiple arms appear to spiral out of a cloudy tan knob. Other blue and yellow eight-pointed stars, as well as distant galaxies, are dotted throughout. The composite view looks largely the same as the Webb view, but adds in X-ray patches of dark blue and purple overlaid on top of the cavities. The most prominent X-ray cloud resembles an upward pointing triangle in the central area.

eyes in space 👁️🌌
A spiral galaxy, seen close-up. Its core is a round spot that glows intensely bright, crowned by eight long and spikes that extend across the galaxy, artefacts of the telescope’s structure. Its disc is an oval shape with edges made of very thick and cloudy arms of gas and dust, mostly blue but paler and brighter around patches of stars. Wisps of darker dust also fill the inner disc and swirl off the ends of the arms. The Helix Nebula appears as an eye in the center of the image. The outer layers appears yellow, while the inner layers are a darker blue color. There are many blue stars visible around the nebula. The background of the image shows dark red space. This image of the Ring Nebula, taken by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera, appears as a distorted doughnut. The nebula’s inner cavity hosts shades of blue and green, while the detailed ring transitions through shades of orange in the inner regions and pink in the outer region. The ring’s inner region has distinct filament elements. Stars litter the scene, with a particularly prominent star with 8 long spikes in the top right corner.A small white dot with a large orange debris disk around it, resembling an eye.

JWST CONTINUES TO EXCEED OUR EXPECTATIONS!! ✨ recently, it confirmed a 20 year-old mystery discovered by hubble, finding that there are planet-forming disks in the early universe that are longer lived than they should be, given environmental conditions!
The center of the image contains arcs of orange and pink that form a boat-like shape. One end of these arcs points to the top right of the image, while the other end point toward the bottom left. Another plume of orange and pink expands from the center to the top left of the image. To the right of this plume is a large cluster of white stars. There are various other white stars and a few galaxies of different sizes spread throughout the image. Ten, small, yellow circles overlaid at various points across the image indicate the positions of the ten stars surveyed in this study.
