Not gonna RS the thread that made me think about this (you've likely already seen it, or a similar one) BUT Every person I know who has cut off or gone low contact with a parent took YEARS of agonizing and trying to make things work because damn that's their PARENTS.

It's a marmite book for sure, I enjoyed it. Brimstone was terribly edited tho so don't expect book two to be great if you enjoy Quicksilver.

Censorship of books is an insidious control mechanism that keeps young people in a lane, deemed appropriate. Instead of broadening horizons it keeps the public (kids) in their own safe boxes which often means they fear the unknown thus breeding ignorance.

Agreed, the point is: the books being banned are formative for young people, they help build empathy and understanding in ways that other forms of learning can't. They break through cultural barriers and introduce young people to topics that they might never come across in life.
