Presented at the SOAS workshop on measuring in work poverty for women on the economic realities of influencer labour done by Nigerian women. Other horrifying aspects of surveillance capitalism and the present realities of computing were also covered.
Awkward white British-Irish man stood in front of projected slide outlining criteria for what constitutes a 'gig job': Your line manager is an algorithm, if you lose algorithmic exposure you lose money, you get shadow banned rather than formally fired, you aren't an employee but a contractor/user, you're paid by task rather than by time.

Slide also has three book recommendations: Uberland by Alex Rosenblatt, Sad by Design by Geert Lovink, and Algospeak by Adam Aleksic.

The awkward man's shirt is likely green, and his wife has told him this, however he is colourblind and so cannot independently verify this.

Okay, who lied to Keir Starmer? He's done the most damage to the labour movement (both lowercase and capital L) since Tony Blair. But ultimately, this bland coat rack of a human being will be utterly forgettable, like most 19th and 20th century Liberal and Conservative leaders.
Text saying, 'Keir Starmer was told he would be remembered as a "giant of the Labour movement" at final cabinet meeting'.
