Hello from the Taylor Institution Library, home to the University's Modern European Languages collections!

We have over 750,000 books (most of which are borrowable), and will be your home Bodleian Library during your studies!

INDUCTION TOURS
During 0th and 1st Week, we are running welcome tours to show you our facilities, and to help you find the books you will need and the reading rooms you can study in.

In 0th Week, tours will be on Wednesday 7th, Thursday 8th, and Friday 9th October.
In 1st Week, tours will be on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th October. 
The tours will last around 30 minutes each, and run throughout the day.

Booking early is advised, and you can book as soon as you have your University card number and Oxford email address.

Happy #HobbitDay! Did you know J.R.R Tolkien used the Taylor Institution Library during his time at the university? We're also lucky enough to house some academic books from his personal collection, which are still used by researchers today! Some contain his signature as a mark of ownership!

Thanks to everyone who visited us for Oxford Open Doors on Saturday! We were fully booked for all 11 tour slots throughout the day, and welcomed over 120 visitors to visit the building and view our temporary exhibition on everyday life at the Taylorian through history!

Our friend the Maison Française Library @mfoxford.bsky.social turned 80 this year! 🎉 Go visit this wonderful French language library this summer, and take a peek at their exhibitions. You don't have to be a University of Oxford student to join - membership is open to all! www.mfo.ac.uk

Our first proof copy of 'Ingeborg Bachmann: Fragmented' has arrived, and it's looking great! 🎉 We'll be adding this book to our collections in time for the book's official launch in Michaelmas Term- so keep an eye out for it on SOLO! We'll also post more about the launch closer to the time!

👋University of Oxford Open Days 🔊 On Wednesday and Thursday (1st and 2nd July), we will be taking tour groups of prospective students around the library as part of the University open days. We apologies in advance for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause.

☀️ Summer Vacation Loans ☀️ All Taylorian Teaching Collection items (and some Bodleian Offsite Storage items) that are borrowed or renewed after the 15th June, will now be due on the 13th October. All books that are not eligible for a Vacation Loan should be returned by their due dates.
