Im sorry to be a bummer on the tl, but the idea of losing Stop Caring is really painful. I am very proud of the small space I've carved for myself and others, the ways readers have received our pieces, and all the lovely people I've met. It would be a shame to lose it all.

A little peek inside my life: There is a very real possibility I will lose my job soon. They are asking me to do something I am not comfortable with. If I lose my job, I have no safety end. That means that Stop Caring will be on hiatus until my material reality improves. I dont know what to do.

MOST of the best writers in the gaming space are women, POC, queer, or some combination of those traits. Disappointing to see they're almost always the first to go when things get tough. You'll hear a million reasons why this happens, but we know who gets to stay regardless.

Ok, so I am going through onimusha again on story mode because I want to make a save point before basically every major story beat (at least as much as I can). If you are playing this game in this way, you are making a big mistake. You owe it to yourself to try the normal difficulty.

The severity has increased but ICE has always been terrifying. They have always harmed us. They have always kidnapped us. Now it's even more violent, widespread, and just so much worse. Idk. I am just terrified all of the time.

In 2025, 1 person died in ICE custody every 10 days. They are rounding us up and killing us. This isn't a hypothetical, it is actively fucking happening. Do you know how terrifying it is to know that nothing you do matters when they are just hunting people who look like you? Who have an accent?

While I agree with the prevailing sentiment that the dungeons in Fortune's Weave are quite bad, I do also have to say that I don't find the implementation of them meaningfully or notably different/worse than the way dungeons and TB combat are done in most turn-based RPGs.

I think bird time is an excellent example of the types of ways you can sort of push players to dig deeper into understanding characters without such obvious right/ wrong answers on their face. There ARE right answers, but they require you to think more about what ppl are saying/ might want

This is a symptom of a larger and invidious tendency to equate any kind of criticism with either "hating" or "fangirling", to try to slot everyone and everything into pre-packaged boxes, like so many sad, pale little supermarket apples - and to treat journalism and criticism as if they were necessarily subservient to big corporate endeavors, like Hollywood and Twitter. It is a tiny instance of a poisonous trend in media coverage, to be constantly reacting to lowest-common-denominator "takes" on the internet, rather than taking up the responsibility to reframe, investigate, listen, and educate.
