Trying to research Canting Tribe folks via written word is a dubious task at best. 99% of Canting Tribes have an Oral culture, expecting to trace them historically via their own written word is a foolhardy task. Trying to do it via an outside cultures written word perhaps more so.

I stand by our old traditions. ❤️ Fun fact Goodeners who travelled the path to collect the Goodening gifts for the community from the big houses were called Dawdlers. And they were "Dawdling"! This is where the word comes from in the English language! 💕 🥰

She's original vintage chalkware 44cm tall & glows in the dark!😭Incredible condition for age, couple of tiny flakes missing

It's messing with my head today. I know all I can do is try and gather, match up what I Know, and what I've heard, learnt and bring it together. And it's extra hard because that whole generation is just... Gone now. The ones I inherited this from.

Bah. Racism ain't gonna be fixed today. Canting Tribe Folks are gonna have to keep on doing what we've been doing for hundreds of years and just keep on plodding on. I'm gonna clean my house. I'm gonna uplift others. I'm going to educate folks on Indigenous matters and I'm gonna create art.

Canting Tribe children were sometimes thought of as being able to be "Washed White" through skin dye (To remove any genetic translucency of the skin) or through skin bleaching. And of course, the maiming of facial features, like the "surgical" removal of Indigenous features. 🧵

Reaching back through the archives for this. Back when I was doing Inter-Indigenous cross cultural studies with a Cherokee Academic about "Sacred smoke ceremonies" - specifically looking at the how, why and a closer look at plants. We had a good discussion about native sweet grasses too ❤️

Epicanthal Folds were a thing that people used to think linked #CantingTribe folks with the Sami. (Especially considering both groups have a high Nomadic population and have distinctive spiritual beliefs) But there's never actually been a genetic connection found-Or cultural. It's just chance!

A Harvest Festival in 1924, in St Dunstan's Church. Where they're hanging up the fishing nets to bring about a good catch of fish. 👀 And that's the vicar doing it. 👀 (This is folk magic. Very classic, good old fashioned folk magic.)

I really feel that Workhouses being used to deliberately seperate #CantingTribe people from their children and culture isn't talked about enough. Like it's a well documented fact and yet is never taught. The only place it seems to be mentioned is in the leaked report on the Tinker Experiments.

Bit of a shit letter from Royal Mail this morning, concerned I'm not gonna do 1000 parcels this year. Jeez, I'm sorry the start of this year was slow. Can't imagine what the reasons for that might be.😵‍💫 So they've hiked my prices by £1+ per parcel. What a kick in the face for an already crappy year.

Putting air filters in classrooms seems to boost student attendance, which may be due to them reducing levels of air pollution, pollen, pathogens or all three

✨ Released Today!✨ “There are many books about Scottish #FolkMagic, but none so far explore the many facets of Scottish Folk Magic and Surrounding Beliefs as thoroughly and with such passion. This book is one of the definitive works about #animism, #magic and folk belief in #Scotland” ~ Tarn N

Hardcover edition of Milldust and Dreaming Bread shown without its dust jacket, revealing a bright green cloth cover embossed with a silver symbol from ogham. Surrounded by dried herbs, rose petals, sunflowers, crystals, and a skull on a wooden surface, the image evokes the tactile, ancestral presence of Scottish witchcraft and protective folk magic rooted in land and lore.Open book page from Milldust and Dreaming Bread. Inside cover of Milldust and Dreaming Bread, featuring a portrait of author Scott Richardson-Read in a traditional knitted jumper, leaning on a wooden fence amid moorland. Surrounded by dried roses and herbs, the page highlights Scott as a working-class folklorist dedicated to Scottish folk practices, animistic belief, and cultural heritage conservation through storytelling, activism, and lived tradition.

I don't think a lot of people realise that these local elections decide a lot about the day to day lives of our (UN recognised) Indigenous communities here in the UK. With this current swing, we could see our already alarming death rate sky rocket. 😮‍💨
