so after a pause, just picked up Role Model to finish my re-read and I was right where Coach Wiebe and the Centaurs owners backed Troy against the Commissioner. which, seems sadly timelier than ever right now. iykyk. anyways, white men, time to speak out against esSAying and be a role model.

while we're on about country crossovers, have y'all heard Cameron Whitcomb? (although, I'm like, this is country? But getting tons of airplay on both top 40 and country stations but maybe cause he's Canadian filling CanCon?) anyways, a BOP! youtu.be/63k0kNuCPak

Driscoll’s should have been on your personal “Banned List” for some time now. Even if you don’t care about “Elbows Up” shit, they’re a terrible product. Flavourless and they go rotten the moment you take them out of shopping bag at home.

Made it to Stratford. It's 6:15pm ish. We left Toronto 401 and DVP at 3pm. Yah, never gonna make a 7:30pm show on a regular work day.

because my TV life sort of paused last Nov/December and I'm only slowly coming back to the (unheated) world, I'm only now finishing the second half of LAST year's #DWTS but man, they really scored with Robert Irwin and Joey into their world, didn't they? (also do I need to watch Mormon Wives?)

ugh, Stratford is moving up shows to 1:30pm and 7:30pm? I can barely make it in time for the current curtain times especially with Mississauga/Milton traffic. And definitely means weekdays are a no-go.

Dolly was nonpartisan but not apolitical. She followed a clear moral compass, largely informed by her faith, and her actions spoke much louder than her words. But that’s the key difference between someone like her and a Sheeran — action versus passivity.

oh, and just announced: Elsinore just won the #TIFF26 International People's Choice Award (which is different than the original regular People's Choice Award? Which went to La Bola Negra)

010

tapeworthy @tapeworthy.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Oh, I was thinking a lot about Pride (having just rewatched it after seeing the new musical version) during Elsinore (Andrew Scott + gay issue movie) and now realize it's the same writer, Stephen Beresford! AH... (though tonally, completely different obviously).

120

tapeworthy @tapeworthy.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

well that sucks, because Ride or Die was a blast. (and wasn't it always in the top 3 spots for a few weeks because I started it late and it was still up there)

1283

tapeworthy @tapeworthy.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

also, the #TIFF26 sponsors giveaways/freebies/booths seem especially sad this year (partly because it's exactly like last year but even less). Like if you're gonna spend all that money to sponsor and promote, spend some of that budget on just giving proper samples of your product?!

000

tapeworthy @tapeworthy.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

watched Up Against It, a very weird film in that it didn't feel weird at all despite zany comedic/morally questionable premise (part of the plot). Tonally a very adult broken family dramatic comedy that's both feelgood, a touch of Almodovar melodrama, cancer sadness film, but always felt mature.

111

tapeworthy @tapeworthy.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Got to see Elsinore at #TIFF26 and this is not a slight but as Kate Winslet would say in Extras, this was made as Oscar bait. Brits, about acting, about the AIDS crises, about the theatre, with an insane cast lead by Andrew Scott.

There's a reason previous Liberal governments looked at privatizing airports and didn't go through with it. Private investors don't want a stake in our public assets to make them better. They’re in it to make as much money as possible for themselves - while workers and passengers pay the price.
