For decades, Australia has failed to collect enough income from our mineral and fossil fuel resources. We’re still collecting more on HECS than from the PRRT, our super-profits tax on oil and gas. (Hint: it doesn’t work). Successive governments have failed the next generations. This needs fixing.

David Attenborough is right, “if we continue on our current path, we will face the collapse of everything.” We know what we need to do, it’s the corruption & lies of the fossil fuel companies & our leaders that makes extinction more likely. We need zero emissions within 5yrs!

Absolutely drop the Scott Morrison imposed fees for Arts degrees. The #LNP hate educated people, especially those who study the Arts (because these people don’t usually vote for them). Get rid of all the nasty #LNP university fees #RadioSydney

Today I introduced this in Parliament. It’s time the Big Tech giants were made to manage their algorithms to make our online experience safe, time we stopped asking users and parents to be the solution to social media harm. The operators of these platforms should step up. My Bill would achieve that.

It's clear ABC Australia & ABC News mgmt is actively ignoring audience feedback: • most program Twitter accounts were closed so public (and program-specific) feedback is discouraged • complaints to the ABC are 'acknowledged' yet there's no apology or change. • respected hosts are sacked. 😔 #ourABC?

Few people know this: half of the world's energy use is for heat used in buildings and industry. And almost all of it is from burning fossil fuels. That's why we need to decarbonise heat if we want to stand a chance of meeting our climate targets.

Trump won a clear and convincing victory. But he and his allies are trying to pump it up into a "landslide," which it was not. With 49.997% of the vote, he fell short of a majority and his 1.6-point margin of victory is the third smallest since the 19th century. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/22/u...

This all-consuming book has been out for a month, as of yesterday, and is off to be reprinted. I have been too scared to ask for numbers, but I know people are buying and reading it. Thank you. The best feedback is a review like this one because it was my exact hope for this thing. Don't stop now!
A book cover with red and white mind-bending blocks where people try to scramble up ladders that go nowhere. It feels like an optical-illusion. The book is called Mean Streak: A moral vacuum and a multi-billion dollar government shakedown by Rick Morton. 5.0 *****
essential reading for all citizens, everywhere

this is the only comprehensive & coherent dissection of the the most egregious public service corruption that has ever happened in australia
any lingering confusion I had about the mechanics of robodebt has been put to bed. the author's intricate yet demystifying explanations demonstrate exactly how the public service & government pulled it off; every detail from the outset laid bare.
this book should be mandatory reading for all public servants & prescribed text for any tertiary study even remotely linked to public policy. the author's narration is magnificent: clear, easy on the ears, perfect inflection throughout. this is book of the year, the decade. it's right up top with some of my lifetime favourites.
