It's like the several years where, when sickness season started, they would put up big signs that said "Masks are *OPTIONAL*" by the (long since gone) mask dispensers. It's like the people in charge want to make it very clear that they don't care about keeping people healthy unless they get paid

I know the plexiglass walls at check-in desks are entirely health theatre, but after 6.5 years it's pretty jarring to walk into the cancer center and suddenly see them gone Like, I know they did nothing, but MGH removing them as sickness season ramps up feels like really on-brand messaging for them

They wouldn't listen that my GI told me not to take them. Said "it's this or nothing" and claimed I was drug seeking. Obviously that made the obstructions I was there for worse. Had to have my GI list them as an 'allergy' to make the ER docs stop 🙄

Ugh, that sounds terrible <3 Yeah, my doctor said I can do prednisone if the swelling gets worse but for now we're just doing wait-and-see. When I was going to the ER a lot, they eventually refused to give me opioid pain meds and tried to force high dose NSAIDs on me...

Literally the only thing I care about is setting task reminders. I don't want to do anything else. Just yell at my phone to remind me of something at a given time, and have it show up under tasks on my calendar.

I do have Home Assistant, which I know has a voice assistant I could turn on... but can I set that to have a verbal wake word on my phone? I've heard Google restricts it to just their own assistant (now AI).

Anyone have experience using alternate assistants on Android? Setting reminders through Assistant has been a major boon to my ADHD management, so I really don't appreciate them ripping it away unless I give their AI access to all of my data...

I adored the Star Wars Galaxies profession tree, and it's a shame it was scrapped for the more mainstream "pick a class forever" style. There was a long post-mortem article about it some years ago, which was really interesting. I hope some game tries that again.

I am forever mad that we never got more of the story for Earth & Beyond. I think that was the first MMO I *really* played. There was an exodus to EVE when it shutdown, but it wasn't the same at all. I definitely had a Stargate thing going with the names 😅

Booked 2mo ago, filled forms out right away to make sure there were no issues. Got a call today, "Dr is concerned about your medical history. How do you feel about rescheduling and just having a consult tomorrow?" Managed to get the Dr on the phone and settle it, but yeesh. I planned around this!

I cannot play a game that requires me to use one thumbstick to aim and another to move (at the same time). I tried playing Halo on console with folks once in college. I had to stop moving to aim every time. Needless to say, I died a lot 😅 I was fine with Halo on PC, though. It's those thumbsticks

VR makes me sick so it's unlikely I'll ever try the Steam Frame, BUT I think it's a shame Valve abandoned the awesome haptic trackpads they had on the Vive and the early Steam Controller prototypes for thumbsticks. Thumbsticks break my brain, but these things were so intuitive and fun.

An early Valve Steam Controller. It has two large round pads on either side, with a couple concentric raised rings. There are 4 buttons with letter labels, a grid of 4 square buttons in the middle (unlabelled), and 3 more buttons along the bottom.

I've been having a hankering for DBZ after many years, but the show is such a slog to get through. Decided to try Dragon Ball Kai, and it's so much better. Scenes and dialogue are snappy, things move along, whole chunks of filler episodes I vaguely remember are totally gone. It's great.

The car had normal (non-police) plates and, importantly, Uber and Lyft stickers on the windshield. I wish I'd had a way to record it in that split second as it went around, because that feels........ very very illegal? I mean, I really doubt it was an undercover cop car that drives for Uber?

Was stopped in traffic earlier. Saw what looked like police lights coming up behind me. A car comes up behind with flashing red/blue lights (on the inside) and then starts a police siren and veers into the opposing lane to go around all the traffic...

Very grateful ReadiMasks exist. I was able to get my 3 hour tattoo yesterday without worrying because I had an N95 literally glued to my face 😅 (they did all put on masks while I was in the shop, too, which I appreciate - and my artist made them use kn95s instead of the surgicals they usually do)

Desiccant beads in my 3D printer were totally full of moisture, so I took them out and baked them to reset. I forgot to pour them back into the bottle last night. They are already completely moist again 😅
