Are Aussies weird? The modernists thought so. Uncertain we dispelled the rumours in AMSN’s panel at BAMS/MSA26, but good fun to talk about it w/ Ryan & Ben. Now, we shift from the weird to the intoxicating for AMSN/MSIA26 in Nov. Still time to submit yr abstracts, folks! See you in Adelaide! 😎

There’s flattering reviews of Saunders’ new novel ‘Vigil’ out there. Mine isn’t one of them. (If you don’t want to be let down by a novel about oil barons in this economy, just read some Upton Sinclair. The GOAT.) Thanks to @jamesley.bsky.social for his brilliant editing (and fearless headline).

Another cool thing that happened yesterday was I bumped into *the* great Honorée Jeffers in the archive. Starstruck! (Of course, had to be the one day my coffee machine exploded on me, so I was running late, frazzled and fully unkempt, wearing my daggiest outfit, etc. But I’ll count the win.)

Greatly honoured to have my article published in latest issue of Modernism/modernity on Wallace Thurman. A sneak peak is up now on Print+. The essay discusses how WT grappled with the untidy politics of textual labor in the Harlem Renaissance by writing fiction ft. typewriters (machines, women).
