Next book, Jaws by Peter Benchley! This one is specifically for me. This was my childhood movie when I was growing up, but never got a chance to read the book. Don't know if I can finish it by the end of the week, but here's hoping! 🦈

The actual romance part felt a bit rushed, but it's a fantasy romance about shape shifting dudes finding their 'one,' so realism was never the goal. It's short and sweet, has a tiny bit of smut, and is pretty much inoffensive. My only gripe is they could have made the dad pudgier, but thats just me.

To start, I am not the targeted demographic for this so my opinion isn't the best when it comes to romance novelas. I loved seeing an MC who is middle aged and having to deal with that part of their life, and I am always down for a good dad doing dad things.

So I got into writing again. Anyways, the next book on my May reading thing was one I got from a blind buy. Dragon Bod Dragon by Lauren Esker. A romance about a shape shifting dragon dad who is out of shape and seeking help from a human trainer - who happens to be his soul mate.

Overall, it’s a good book about people trying to survive and find happiness. 7/10.

The reveal towards the end of what had actually occurred on the Hill of Dead Horses also felt a bit too early as the perspectives from 1927 hadn’t even witnessed the incident yet. Kind of hard to be surprised of the events when someone has already explained what happened to the reader.

The groups are separated by 50 years, but the author does a great job connecting the different perspectives while also pushing the story along. I wish Thomas had a perspective as he was a vital character who also had his own traumas he was struggling with.

Short Review: The Hill of Dead Horses is a tale of tragedy set in the remote wilderness of Alaska. Unlike what I had previously thought it is not a murder mystery, but a story of two groups of characters attempting to escape their past traumas and start new lives for themselves.

Challenging myself this May to read as many books as possible, mainly to push myself to read the pile that has accumulated this past year. Starting with Sarah Birdsall's Hill of Dead Horses - a murder mystery based in Alaska, that interweaves plotlines between 1927 and 1974.

Grayscale sketch of Leon, Grace, Sherry, and Emily from Resident Evil Requiem. They are dressed in casual clothes, having a fun day out. Leon carries Emily on his shoulders, Grace holds an ice cream cone in one hand and cotton candy in the other, and Sherry eats cotton candy.

blue slimes make excellent centerpieces in any garden, but take care to water them frequently and maintain their size, lest they wander away with your prize koi fish!

A possibly ephemeral lion encircles and older man, who bares his throat submissively to the lion. The lion has its teeth in the man's neck and its claws digging into the man's chest and shoulder; the man raises his hand up to caress the lion's mane.

The mental health crisis also involved visiting a haunted lake with a bunch of burned campers, but that's not as important as the warehouse being taken over by gym equipment and protein stands.

Had a dream I left my work to go help a friend through a mental health crisis, but when I came back, the entire building was full of protein bros shaking it up on gym equipment. It was still a plumbing and heating store, but they decided to go in a different direction marketing wise. #rambles#dreams
