I need a witch speaker in every Converge from now on!

It was a great talk, Donnie! And the way you delivered it was so refreshing! Should’ve said that to your face but got too shy to interrupt your chats last night

Take a leap and go for it! There will always be another book to read, another citation to be added… you already have it, really

+1 on that. Talking about the human factor in design systems is such a delicate subject. Kudos to @guysegal.com for doing that with so much kindness and respect. That talk was 100% relatable!

… but the themes you explored would fill a gap on decolonial design literature

A side note: I come from a bit of an academic background, I studied Cultural Studies and Post-Colonial Theory. Seeing your talk connecting these themes with Design Systems hit home so much! No idea if you have thought about exploring this talk through other mediums like writing a book +

Hi John! Your talk was great, I can’t imagine how you felt with all the interruptions (your sense of humour managing it all was awesome, wish I had the chance to say hi in person). About the conferences, I can see your talk in one of Rosenfeld’s or UX London (I’ll drop the link below) 👇

It’s the Sete de Setembro – Brazil’s Independence Day – so it is only right that Coxinha, the emblematically Brazilian chicken croquette, is #RecipeOfTheDay! These, though, are mini versions, much more manageable for making at home. www.nigella.com/recipes/coxi...

Coxinha

Although a regular coxinha is more the size and shape of a bulbous, dumpy pear, these are mini versions, like fat little figs, and you can get a fabulous 70 of these emblematically Brazilian chicken...

If I’m being honest, I’m feeling pretty crap about my small business. It’s so bloody difficult at the moment with rising costs, US tariffs, Brexit nonsense and the threat of AI. Please have a look at what I do and repost to spread the word gailmyerscough.co.uk

A selection of illustrations and commissions including an album cover design of a vintage radio, a book cover design with an illustration of George Harrison, architecture illustrations, a Listening Party turntable design, a music pattern design and a photo of me wearing glasses.

If you’re a coffee person I highly recommend visiting ’SoCoffee Roasters’. Best coffee I’ve ever had in my life ☕️

I’ll miss my FigPal so much 😭 I don’t know why Figma doesn’t want to keep it. I just wanted it in my bottom nav bar, not asking for much 🥹

Your talk on the last Converge was an absolute gem 💜

Talitha @talithecreative.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

An example: Currently in the US government’s DS are being “asked” to remove any mention of accessibility, diversity and inclusion from their documentation…

Talitha @talithecreative.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

If there’s a branch of Design that’s extremely political is design systems. How on earth design decisions that are used in scale in a product are not political? If people are doing DS and not understanding the ethical responsibility and impact they have I’m not sure they understand what a DS is…

I think I should earn a Nobel Peace Prize for all the conflicts I need to resolve on a @figma.com file every time I need to merge a branch 😭😔

Every major UK newspaper - left, right, broadsheet, tabloid - is running a front page campaign against copyright carveouts for AI training. I can't remember the last time any political cause had such broad support, let alone one so anti-big tech and so economically consequential.

Newspaper stand with newspapers all carrying the front page Campaign 'make it fAIr'

I’m really sorry the horrible political climate reached this point in Germany too, Sil — sending love and strength

Talk about atomic design without knowing much about design systems so you look like you know a lot about design systems to people who don’t know anything about it

Echoes of Wisdom is for sure in my top 3 games I played last year. So relaxing and so many cute easter eggs

Two of my friends got their accounts frozen this week too. There’s hope, though… Keep refreshing the page. Ticketmaster is a pain and show available tickets randomly

Were you fighting for the Pulp tickets too? 😩

He said he was spending some time there to relax, wished me a lovely day and off he went back to his life. He was shirtless, wearing sunglasses, beach nylon shorts and Havaianas. It was hard for me to match that look to what we see in the Sepultura performances.

who he was. I asked “You look a lot like the singer from Sepultura”. He said “that’s me I’m Derrick, nice to meet you” and offered his hand for a handshake. I said I’m Talitha, he replied “that’s a beautiful name, thanks for helping me”. I remember asking what he was doing there in Guarujá 🧶

speaking Portuguese mixed with English. My English was ok at the time but I could understand him and guessed he was from the US. I offered to help and it was easy to sort out the misunderstanding about the change. He was very sweet and said thank you several times. That’s when I noticed 🧶

About 15 years ago, when I was living in Guarujá (island about 1h30 from São Paulo city, Brazil), one day I was on my lunch break and went to the shops to grab a sweet snack for the afternoon. When I joined the queue the cashier was struggling to understand this a man 🧶
