I've had a visiting PhD student from China this year and so far it has been really amazing for everyone. Like, good for the student, good for me, and good for my lab. Mutually benificial for everyone. Very sad that this kind of thing might get harder under Trump.

Bottle aversion progress: Turns out our 5.5 month old now wants to be in control, so we have to use a breastlike bottle nipple that she can control the flow of and easily latch onto herself (the Philips Avent Natural Response works well so far).

PSA: Breastfeeding during takeoff and landing is both permitted by the FAA and recommended by the CDC (to help prevent ear pain in babies from the changing air pressure, since babies don't naturally pop their ears)

Do all babies shift to the magical mythical 7-7 sleep schedule, or are some babies just night owls? I can't imagine putting my 4.5 month old to sleep at 7, and if I do she just treats it like a nap anyways. Sweet spot is like 930 PM right now. Wondering where 7 PM comes from lol
