Have a no-context snippet that needs work but that I had fun writing.

Once the vampire loosened his grip, Dwyn only knew to cough a laugh. "I'm surprised you haven't killed me yet."

Silence. Long, meaningful silence that had Dwyn smirk at the vampire. As Dwyn was almost certain would happen, the vampire further loosened his grip after a moment, allowing him to breathe freely. And answered, "You haven't given me any reason to kill you."

"Even though you know I want to bleed you dry?"

"You won't succeed."

"I could poison you with rosequill."

At that, the vampire paused. "I killed my drinking partners that night. Tell me, Dwyn, what you think I would do to you?"

Just writing more of Dwyn's human backstory and this little exchange had me snorting. Dwyn has no impulse control when irritated. Also no sense of self-preservation.

The vampire shrugged. Like his presence was supposed to make perfect sense. Insufferable – as was his response, "I can't go out there yet, they're probably still looking for me."
"Then do the right thing and go get yourself killed!"

Writing my favourite psychopathic vampire's human childhood because why not. It's actually fun to write characters' backgrounds out to learn more about them!

From the height of his seven years of age, young Darwyn felt nothing as he stood by his mother's deathbed.
Though perhaps nothing was an overstatement: he did in fact wonder how long it would take for her shallow breaths to end. The certainty of her impending death intrigued him. There was no doubt that she was going to die, and that her insipid smiles would finally stop.

One of my favourite moments in the entire story, which I'm fully rewriting to today's skill standards. Poor cinnamon roll, he never saw her coming. XD

It was on a bright, sunny day like any other that a loud commotion erupted from within the village. Sokyte dreaded the worst – dreaded once more the loss of lives to beasts enraged and cruel. This time, however, he refused to cower in the safety of the church. Knowing well he was placing his life at risk, Sokyte rushed to the area of the commotion wth the intent to direct the villagers towards the church.
Crippling was his shock when he discovered not enraged beasts were invading Hahel, but a woman. A single woman, tall and slim and mesmerizingly beautiful… and completely naked.
To make matters worse, the woman suddenly rushed at him and latched her arms tight about his chest. Holding him tight to her warm, fragrant body as though she had known him for a lifetime.

Yes I do art sometimes. It's a recent re-exploration. Been trying to find a style/method I like and that doesn't take HOURS just for final linearts. I call it fancy sketching. Focusing on the mood/vibe instead of line perfection. Of course I had to draw my eternally tired, concerned vampire man :3
