Christian Panas @taki.earth · 02/08/2026I don’t know if this was the earliest comic I read but it goes back and it’s still as good as it gets. I was omnivorous from age 4 including Marvel and DC, Archie, Dell and Gold Key, Asterix and Lucky Luke and whatever I could get my hands on. 020 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 18/04/2026I agree with your Cloris Leachman, but I have to add that Madeline Kahn was every bit as amazing. 150 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 29/03/2026Holy crap, me too, and even moreso the other two, Giants and Faeries. Such creative, quality art in oversized format and interesting bits of lore for little-kid-me to pore over. I wish I still had them. 2330 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 25/11/2025My brain recognized these cropped images instantly even though my set of books had art by another artist. Looooooved those books. They saturated my 4th grade. I couldn’t wait to get back to them. 2310 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 21/11/2025That first issue alone is full of so many incredible images. Now that I recall, I guess strictly speaking that’s it for “the run” I mentioned. Although I loved the Kirby/Severin issues as well. 100 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 21/11/2025I’m guessing you mean at the time, because I truly love Kirby’s art on his run every bit as much. 110 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 21/08/2025WOW. What ineffable storytelling! I want to show all the pages from New Gods 9, especially one I can’t. And the last page which I really can’t. Soaking in V/Parr/Cagle/Segala/Napolitano as something like an adult feels as good as reading Kirby/Royer as a kid. #RamV #NewGods #DCcomics 120 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 17/08/2025He’sbeen raked over the coals repeatedly over the past decade for innacuracy and poor science while pushed by ai/crypto billionaires. For those wondering whether to read him, please read what scientists write are saying him before you buy what he’s peddling. 190 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 17/08/2025My desktop after my last viewing of Robocop. Took me a bit to get the right frame. 000 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 16/08/2025Wendell Berry read by Ralph Fiennes is what I needed to start my day. I watched The Return last night and though zero mention of the gods felt viscerally odd in that setting, I loved it. This page from Berry’s essay collection Citizenship Papers lives on my desktop as a reminder that facts ≠ truth. 021 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 13/08/2025The Buck Rogers movie that would become the tv show pilot came out when I was 5. Loved it. When I was 6 we went to DC and I got this massive tome of the comic strips at the Air & Space museum and sent off the application to join Buck’s Solar Scouts. Wish I still had the membership card they sent me. 020 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 04/08/2025This you? Yeah it is. This is a guy who doesn’t understand what he’s talking about and follows neoconservative/neoliberal (exact same thing and it’s what’s destroyed democracy and the earth) ratf*ck Bill Kristol. Nobody should listen to paul from new england. 000 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 02/08/2025That is remarkable and I don’t recall seeing that image before. Oh, how I love Hugo Pratt watercolors! #hugopratt #watercolors 040 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 31/07/2025Filipe Andrade’s Mattoti-esque Black Racer issue stands out to me but all of the artists involved are standouts. Both modern & timeless so no better way to follow Kirby. Ram V is a renaissance for DC, his collaborations and the Absolute books have made me a fan again #comics #dc #ramv #felipeandrade 1233 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 17/07/2025Went from preferring the grim “more realistic" (lol I was 13 at the time) mid 80s versions of characters like Dark Knight Returns to preferring the Super Friends/Adam West/Dick Sprang-era ones. By far the only version of Aquaman I’d want to be like. So long land & humanity where my octopuses at!? 221 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 15/07/2025When I saw how much ketchup you put on your burger I considered not offering this but you do you: Jon’s Joint in Arlington VA grinds their own smashburger patties and makes the kind of burger you just described, tasting better than others (get the OKC). Sadly the pre-packaged fries don't match up. 000 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 12/07/2025She is one of the very, veriest in my book, even in a cast as insane as Young Frankenstein, and this is one of my favorite moments in all moving pictures. Even better with the audio. 110 0
Christian Panas @taki.earth · 26/06/2025I believe you might be missing some Zorro. 😉 From DC/Dell/Gold Key/Warren reprints off spinner racks and sci fi HB shows as a kid to discovering Zorro and other work as I grew, Toth has has had such a huge influence on my taste in and appreciation for illustration my whole life. Happy birthday. 140 0
