Exploration and Dispossession

The dispossession of the Gunaikurnai from their land due to frontier conflict commenced with the first expedition into Gippsland by Europeans. Angus McMillan, a Scottish immigrant born on the Isle of Skye, was understood by early colonists to be the discoverer of Gippsland, through a series of expeditions between 1839 and 1841. In late January 1840 McMillan arrived at the confluence of the Latrobe and Thomson Rivers, startling the local members of the Gunaikurnai in possibly their first encounter with Europeans. McMillan found luxuriant natural pastures on the Gippsland Plains for his employer, Lachlan Macalister. By February 1841 he had blazed a track from Omeo to Port Albert.

A 1 day boycott doesn't do anything. Accrual accounting is your friend. Sure, maybe it will mobilize people who wouldn't otherwise do anything, but let's not pretend buying a shirt tomorrow instead of today does anything. stayin at my friend's farm hanging out with a cat workin on grant applications. On this property there are 4 sheep (one with 3 legs), 32 chickens, 4 ducks, 1 horse, 1 dog, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs. I love being around so many animals but it hurts my heart seeing huge lack of local native species
