Admittedly, there had been some other factors which made Xie Lian come to the decision to leave home as he did, but it was irrelevant now. All he knew he needed to do now was get to the Admin's Office to receive this schedule for the first week, but could hardly get his stupid feet to cooperate.

Forks only had the one high school. It was where all the kids who had grown up since birth together formed their alliances long before Xie Lian even knew such a place existed. Thus, walking into its hallways was like walking into the maws of a mountain lion; predatory and intimidating.

They'd all been stuck hip to hip for as long as Xie Lian could remember, so what was one year apart? In some ways, it was exciting; the sort of adventure he'd never even had the chance to experience before. In many ways, it was as disconcerting as it was uncomfortable.

It was bigger than the kind of houses they'd lived in over the years while moving from state to state for Father's work. It made sense she'd want company after Wai Gong's passing.

There was a city in the northeastern state of the Olympic Peninsula of northwest Washington State, a small town named Forks which existed under a near-constant cover of clouds. It was to this town and its gloomy, omnipresent shade that Xie Lian came to finish his last year of high school.

surprise gacha drabble commission I did for someone's wonderfully fleshed out OCs. They requested Hurt/Comfort. I went with one of their OC's fears--thunderstorms--and played around with how their other OC, who doesn't like physical touch, might go about comforting her in the middle of panic :3

Summary:

Meet Xie Lian. 26. Single. Chronic lung condition.

It is, Indonesia has been burning their plantations for months and the smoke blows over. Locally they’ve been burning stuff too but blame Indonesia as a coverup 😞 it happens every year so it’s essentially known as a haze season here, though it’s significantly worse than I remember as a kid
