my friend is reading my story and saying all the things he doesn't like about it, and I had to stop him and ask "is there anything you DID like?" that's... not how you critique a piece. It's how you criticize one. Remember to tell your author friends what you LIKE about their works, too!

Zander's joy is Lily, and bringing HER joy. But he also cares about helping and bringing joy... he wishes he had the magic to do that. Lily loves to help! But she also loves so many things, like puppets and music and friends and animals.

In Magical Girl Mao, there is an indigenous character. Her name is Rena Nakai, and she's a boss. TWH has Terra Crane! Hexflame... Is a little more complicated. It's post-apocalyptic, but many rural indigenous reserves survived the apocalypse due to how far they were from the epicenter. So...

Hey #writersky do y'all have any discord groups where people are nice and helpful and stuff? I joined one that promised that, only for people to be huge jerks. Not about MY writing, but they are actively triggering a guy on purpose and that's not my jam.

-rolls around- i just want someone to talk about Hexflame to. I'm so bored, being stuck in this chair (I hurt my knee) and this is apparently the only thing I want to do. Writing is hard. Forgot why I stopped doing it.

Today's national coming out day? You're probably wondering what "Coming out" looks like in Hexflame (probably not). I want to imagine a future where people don't HAVE to come out. With magic and shapeshifting and all that other nonsense, who you kiss is the last of anyone's worries! HOWEVER

I was laying in bed, trying to find a ship name for Oliver and Zander. I came up with oliander. Which is amusing, because Oleander (the plant) is very poisonous... but their love is anything but.

I've been so depressed and struggling with creativity for a while. Even when i picked up writing again, it was re-writing TWH chapters I had already come up with. Hexflame has changed that, and that's why I talk about it so much and am so passionate. This project makes me feel genuine

Magic. Magic fantasy, magic sci fi, magical girls, magic POST APOCALYPSE. I'm a magical girl who writes about characters who have lives and desires beyond the narrative. I make things feel alive. And I want to make stories that resonate with everyone, so there's a variety of queer and bipoc too

"Anywhere" by Evanescence is so Zander and Oliver coded. ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Lyk... if you haven't heard the song.) I really love writing these two. I haven't felt this much love for a ship I wrote since like.. Kayde and Daven from TWH, or Black and White in Prism...

I've been thinking of what classes in D&D my characters would be if they played. Nemo would be a rogue. Lily would be a bard like her dad, probably. And Oliver would be a paladin, because the Knights of the Stars are kind of paladins already. Magic witchy paladins.
