my friend is reading my story and saying all the things he doesn't like about it, and I had to stop him and ask "is there anything you DID like?" that's... not how you critique a piece. It's how you criticize one. Remember to tell your author friends what you LIKE about their works, too!

I was laying in bed, trying to find a ship name for Oliver and Zander. I came up with oliander. Which is amusing, because Oleander (the plant) is very poisonous... but their love is anything but.

So reading the first part- I think it's very interesting, and you explain things that are crucial to the plot in a way that makes sense to the reader! Some of the writing is a bit stilted, and there's parts where words are repeated- that does not make it BAD by any means though! It's still just the
