I like being candid about my financial situation as it comes up, and y'all, it's a rough one right now. July did amazing, and I appreciate that enormously! But July was also a month were I had to pay for a ton of things all at the same time, as is typical of like all major marathon stuff I do.

On the marathon on Tuesday, I'll be playing Case of the Golden Idol, and some of its spinoffs. The same incentive that was open during Sabre Day will be open during this marathon, and it'll contribute as well to the special incentive open during Spookum's Week for the backseat cooking stream.

pro ground meat meal salt strat: make your mix, add salt, then take a small quantity of the meat and just quickly fry a small medallion of it then taste. it won't be exactly like the final product, but saltiness is a linear scale in taste vs other things having a presence vs quantity quality to them

if you don't know what the right amount of salt is, then taste as you cook. can't do this with everything, but for a lot, you can and if you want a good rule of thumb on what the right amount is anyway, it's 1% to 2% by weight of what you're cooking depending on preference. that's what 'to taste' is

cooking PSA: using the right amount of salt in your food is 80% of making it taste good. you can be bad at almost every aspect of cooking, but if you salt your food right every time, you're better than a lot of people you can't 'skip salt'. you only don't add salt if you're using salty ingredients

I'm kind of glad I'm not really interested in Duskbloods after watching gameplay of it, because it's another reason to put off getting a Switch 2. It looks like a really inelegant game in a way that Nightreign specifically was a really well-executed shift of a Souls game into a co-op run-based game.

I did my civic duty and voted. toho-vote.info I actually don't remember the first time I voted in this poll, but it was many, many, many years ago. Before machine translation was common, so I cross-referenced everything manually and it took forever. It's so easy to do this now in comparison.

A list of the seven characters I voted for this year in the yearly Touhou Vote.
Toyosatomimi no Miko got the three point spot.
Mamizou Futatsuiwa got the two point spot.
The rest in the one-point range are Reimu Hakurei, Maribel Hearn, Yuiman Asama, Ariya Iwanaga, and Byakuren Hijiri.
