I did my civic duty and voted. toho-vote.info I actually don't remember the first time I voted in this poll, but it was many, many, many years ago. Before machine translation was common, so I cross-referenced everything manually and it took forever. It's so easy to do this now in comparison.

A list of the seven characters I voted for this year in the yearly Touhou Vote.
Toyosatomimi no Miko got the three point spot.
Mamizou Futatsuiwa got the two point spot.
The rest in the one-point range are Reimu Hakurei, Maribel Hearn, Yuiman Asama, Ariya Iwanaga, and Byakuren Hijiri.

The first five songs in the music poll of the yearly Touhou popularity poll.
I gave the three-point spot to the arrangement of Idolatrize World from Artificial Utopia in Ruins. The original Futatsuiwa from Sado got the two-point spot. Let's Live in a Lovely Cemetery, Night Sakura of Dead Spirits, and The Deviants' Unobstructed Light ~ Kingdom of Nothingness got one-point votes.

My last five votes on the music poll of the Touhou yearly Popularity Poll. The Concealed Four Seasons, the Antinomy of Common Flowers version of Night Falls ~ Evening Star, A World of Nightmares Never Seen Before, Staking Your Life on a Prank, and the Artificial Utopia in Ruins version of Beast Metropolis all got 1-point votes too.

On the official works part of the yearly Touhou Popularity poll, my three-point slot was given to the Gensokyo Chronicle books, which I love. The two-point slot was given to Impossible Spell Card, my favorite game gameplay-wise. The one-point slots were given to Artifical Utopia in Ruins as my favorite music CD, Fossilized Wonders as my new favorite mainline game (with a recommendation to not use AI next time in the comment,) and Antinomy of Common Flowers as my favorite fighting game.

i had a run of noita last night that didn't last very long. but it was one that had a random emergence of alchemical precursor that formed on its own, that i quickly turned into draught of midas. i experienced a level of greed only talked about in the bible and died when a lantern fell on my head

The poll for the Quad Damage Shuffler is Now Closed. Our games will be Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Unleashed, Frogger the Great Quest, and Ancient Roman: Power of Dark Side. (That's what the mystery game was the whole time.)

A bar graph containing the results for a poll done publicly to decide what games I'll be playing on April 4th. In order of most votes to least are a Mystery Game, Shadow the Hedgehog, Frogger the Great Quest, Sonic Unleashed, Trespasser, PN03, Nightcry, Jak 2, and Unlimited Saga.

i posted a review of nioh 3 that tragically got popular because it was a rare review of mechanical complaints, which means it attracts Steam Posters, who i think may truly be the unspoken worst posters on the internet, actually being able to facetank enemies means i'm really good at nioh i guess

Screenshot of a review I posted about Nioh 3. It reads "Wow, crazy how the beginning area of Nioh 3 feels easy after putting probably 100, 200 hours in Nioh 2, huh? Do you have brain damage? Can you not understand it feels easy because you are familiar with the mechanics? You didn't even play it long enough to reach the second zone, you havent even unlocked probably HALF of the new mechanics in the game. What a worthless, joke of a review, for anyone who sees this, ignore him. If you liked Nioh 2, you'll love Nioh 3 even more."

This is probably the complete state of the fortress, if only because going further is getting deeper and deeper into FPS death territory. Having a bastion formation on the surface is incredibly good at defending a fortress. I highly recommend it.

A stonesense screenshot of a Dwarf Fortress. The fortress is built aboveground in a simplified version of the historical star fortress design.
Added since the previous screenshot include numerous small towers, an external tavern for visitors, and a windmill complex powering a magma pump. Also: the environment has been cleared of trees, because the need for wood is always extant.

1131

mdct @sword.zone · 17/01/2026

I am now able to confirm that a Star Fort design of fortress in Dwarf Fortress is in fact extremely capable of siege-breaking by itself. A bolt thrower (two on the cardinal points) on each point on the star, 3 Z levels above the ground in front of fortifications is basically perfectly safe.

0171

mdct @sword.zone · 15/01/2026

my current dwarf fortress is me doing my best to create a star fort, which has the advantage of being very aesthetically pleasing. granted, i built it kinda wrong, as the center shouldn't have a keep, but i wanted to build a round tower as well, so we're looking at a star fort around a tower

This was a Day 16 victory. Deadly Fort, Obsidian Snowmobile, Shiny Igloo, Radiant Sapphire, and Stopwatch. That igloo had a snowflake used on it, too, so it was freeze 3 items for 2 seconds 3 times. This was probably the funniest run I've ever done and I'm glad it was on stream.

I finally had a draw in this game based on two players becoming infinitely resilient and not being able to die to the sandstorm. Also finally had another gold victory in the new patch; I think pig's currently pretty weak in it, unfortunately.

perspective artists who are drawing armor: there is one trick to making it look better pretty much always. think about how you wear it. how it moves and how it hangs off of you, because some parts of armor do hang off of you - upper-arm armor in particular fundamentally fights against gravity

Three right arms. The first is a bare arm, the second is an arm with armor drawn over it roughly, and the third is with armor drawn over it with consideration taken for how it's physically worn on the body.

Moth Week starts on Sunday! Historically, Moth Week despite being the most work, probably, that I put into effort-streaming each year is one of the biggest underperformers. I'm hoping this year we turn that around, especially with the final day. This year's theme is Notable Extinct Arthropods!

I'm live! Head on over to sword.zone for a 20 hour marathon. Check the schedule, and take a look at the list of drinks we'll be tasting in 11 hours. I love doing these marathons, like legitimately. They're hard, but they're also always a good time. If you watch anything I do, it should be these.

A schedule showing a stream marathon that I'll be doing. Starting at 4AM going to 9AM I will be playing Lies of P: Overture, the recently-released DLC. From 9AM to 1PM I'll be playing Fantasy Blacksmith. There will be a break to eat and watch things at 1PM to 3PM, then at 3PM to 6PM I'll be tasting 50 highballs involving ten flavors of red bull and five kinds of hard liquor. From 6PM to 9PM I'll be trawling steam for cheap games and demos (likely while inebriated,) and then from 9PM to Midnight I'll be playing the 2013 sequel to that flash game Motherlode.

A chart with 50 entrants comprised of 10 flavors of Red Bull (Default, Sugar Free, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Amber, Pink, Sea Blue, and Coconut) and five kinds of hard liquor (Vodka, Tequila, Rum, Whiskey, and Gin.) Each combination of the two has a name.

Tomorrow, starting at 4AM EST, I'm going to be doing a 20 hour marathon. This is the 8th Sunshine Ceremony I've done, which means I've been doing 16+ hour marathons basically every month for seven years. What a thing to do.

052

mdct @sword.zone · 19/06/2025

It's that time again. I'm gonna be tasting all of these on Friday at about 3PM EST.

Next week on my channel: it's the biggie!! A 22-hour minimum marathon where all of my alerts are half off. There'll be a ton of great incentives for this, because this is my most important marathon each year. I'm currently down to only like $300 and a frown in my bank account - I can't pay my taxes.

A schedule for a marathon stream on April 5th, 2025. All times in EDT - From 7AM to 2PM the stream will be a modded version of Spore. From 2PM to 6PM will be community-played "You vs. Wild", a Netflix game. From 6PM to 5AM it will be Metal Gear Solid 2.

Tomorrow starting at 7AM I have front page time on Twitch. To this end, I have decided I will truly flex my status and position myself definitively as the #1 edutainment streamer on Twitch. I can't wait to edutain you.

A schedule for a marathon stream on March 20th, 2025 on mdct's twitch channel, http://twitch.tv/mdct
Starting at 7AM EST is Logical Adventure of the Zoombinis. Then at 10AM roughly there'll be a swap to Oregon Trail 2. At Noon, the Microsoft Encarta Mind Maze. From 2PM to 5PM will be Jumpstart 1st through 6th grade. After that will be the Dr. Brain Games - Castle of and Island Of back to back, ending at 8PM. Finally, the stream will finish off with Gazillionaire Deluxe, finishing at 11PM EST.
