Maine Coons make for wonderful pets, but they do have a downside: they spread cat litter everywhere, and when you kiss one on the forehead, it takes 20 minutes to get all the cat fur out of your mouth. Still worth it.

This is some of the best advice I ever got about how to write well. When you read out loud your ear picks up rhythm and phrasing that your eye just passes over. It’s a great way to get from a good draft (checked for errors) to a great final draft.

Anybody who went down because they had all of their services running in one AWS region deserves what they get. It’s like having only one data center with no backup. AWS has multiple regions. Redundancy isn’t that hard. If you really cared, you’d run on at least two cloud services.
