This is why I don't like the term AI, I prefer to talk into terms of human intelligence and human cognition versus machine intelligence and machine cogintion. Just because there might be equivalence in some cognitive capability, doesn't mean intelligence has to be the same.

Thoroughly enjoyed working with Tudor Girba on writing chapter 4 of Rewilding Software Engineering : flexing those thinking muscles. Some fairly meaty issues in this chapter. Hopefully, as with mapping, others will find it useful. Chapter 4: Flexing those thinking muscles medium.com/feenk/rewild...

Oh wow ... that's just vandalism. It's like the loss of the USAID reports showing the influence of ODA and how USAID countries have led to 2/3rds of the growth of US exports in the last ten years i.e. helping economies grow meant the US could sell goods to them.

X : Your evolution axis has changed. Me : No it hasn't. It's basically the same as it was 20 years ago. I'm just choosing to bring in multiple labels not just physical capital because we're talking about decision making processes and not just things.

Simon Wardley. @swardley.bsky.social · 16/01/2025
X : Why is there no value chain axis on that map? Me : Because there is no value chain axis, never was, it's only scaffolding to help people get started. You are literally writing the chain onto the map. The value chain axis is at best a notation to say "things higher up the chain are more visible".

Simon Wardley. @swardley.bsky.social · 16/01/2025
X : Do you express the loop on the map? Me : You can do. In some cases, it's important enough that we might explicitly pull it out of the map and visualise it in a different form (see attached). X : Where is that from? Me : The next chapter on rewilding software engineering.

Simon Wardley. @swardley.bsky.social · 16/01/2025
Me : Through discussion on the landscape, we might notice some form of loop e.g.

Simon Wardley. @swardley.bsky.social · 16/01/2025
X : How do you write loops on your maps. Me : Same way I did with the cultural maps that I created back in 2015/2016. X : Explain? Me : Ok ... let us take the map on decision making from this post - medium.com/feenk/rewild...

Continuing on that theme, I see Pioneers, Settlers and Town Planners is gaining a bit of notice in the "old" media e.g. twitter.com/lennysan/sta... NB, I call it explorers, villagers and town planners these days due to the colonial overtones.

... unfortunately, most of those powers are random gut feel ad-hoc story telling and LLMs / LMMs can hallucinate / innovate just as effectively as humans. Markus Fitza did a wonderful piece of work many years ago on decomposition of CEO impact and showed ... it's just random.
