For everyone who plays #immaculategrid. What I love about this game is you can challenge yourself in different ways, besides just completing the grid. I’m always trying to keep my score low, but also, I’m really trying to use as many different players as I can. Glad to hit this milestone today!

1200 different players used in the Immaculate Grid. But like, not all in one day of course…..

Add this Phil Niekro gum bubble to your mental register! Similar set of calipers that went on to crown 1975 Bazooka champ Kurt Bevacqua and appear in the 1976 Topps set. First photo by the legendary Heinz Kluetmeier. #CardSky

Baseball player Phil Niekro, wearing his blue and white Atlanta Braves uniform and blowing a large bubble with his gum. A pair of calipers is measuring the bubble size.

Trading card with a black and white photo of baseball player Kurt Bevacqua, wearing his Milwaukee Braves uniform and blowing a large bubble with his gum. A pair of calipers made by Bazooka is measuring the bubble size. Text above the photo proclaims him the 1975 Joe Garagiola Bazooka Buble Gum Blowing Champ. This implies Bazooka hosted a promotional content on an annual basis for baseball players to compete at their ability to blow the lagest bubbles.

Inspired by the recent return to collecting by @adarowski.bsky.social and my love for the Negro Leagues, I decided I wanted to get cards for every Negro Leaguer who also played in integrated baseball and also made the Hall of Fame. If you grew up in the 70s you already have these ones:

70s Topps cards of Lary Doby, Henry Aaron, Minnie Miñoso, Ernie Banks and Willie Mays.

So would this be a viable Contemporary era ballot for next year (ranked by WAR)? Whitaker Reuschel Lofton Evans Bell Randolph Cone Hernandez Obvs they don’t do it by WAR, and I could really see Stieb or Kent on there. @cooperstowndave.bsky.social @adarowski.bsky.social @cooperstowncred.bsky.social
