I think it’s unconscionable that we are willing to move heaven and earth to find money for stadiums, but seemingly incapable of doing the same to prevent the closure of schools. My constituents are outraged. They are right to be. There’s still time to fix this, but we’re going to need to lock in.

I’m also rewatching the OoT trailer every day and poring over discourse because I’m thirsty af for this game. Very similar to how I reacted to major N64 titles in the 90s. I remember rewatching the Banjo-Kazooie promo VHS they sent me in the mail at least two dozen times.

Ocarina remake looks delightful to look at and replaying it will be nostalgic and fun. I’m also concerned that fidelity to the original design will expose that it is far from a perfect masterpiece, with tedious backtracking and uneven dungeons. Got to the real end of Big Walk. Both endings were great. Friendship, communication, losing communication but retaining connection. Felt like a metaphor for life. Can’t explain how this goofy looking puzzle game was so profound, but it was.

-Matches last 15-ish minutes if you’re bad, more if you advance to third round -World is pretty cool, graphics are pretty smooth -I can see a lot of potential to explore story, lore, try new characters, gain skills, experience new events, none of which (according to previews) require winning at PvP

-It is PVP except when it’s not. Players don’t get points for killing each other except in prescribed areas -You can play a whole match co-op with another person, form a team with a rival during the match -There’s also temporary co-op with your rivals that works kind of like summoning in Souls

Context: the Revolutions of 1848 pop off right after its publication (making 18th Brumaire a good follow-up) Main points I like to hit are in the slides below. Lately I’ve been adding the note that while Marxist historiography in the Manifesto is stagist, it’s somewhat different from later Marx

Slide 1:

Classes and Conflict
1. Class Struggle defines History
2. History Moves Through Stages as Classes Dominate Production
3. As Production Develops, Society Changes, even in a Single Dominant Mode

With two excerpts:

“The history of all hitherto existing societyt is the history of class struggles.
Freeman and slave, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, guild-master and journeyman, in a word, oppressor and oppressed, stood in constant opposition to one another, carried on an uninterrupted, now hidden, now open fight, a fight that each time ended, either in a revolutionary reconstitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the contending classes.”

“We see, therefore, how the modern bourgeoisie is itself the product of a long course of development, of a series of revolutions in the modes of production and of exchange.
Each step in the development of the bourgeoisie was accompanied by a corresponding political advance of that class. An oppressed class under the sway of the feudal nobility, an armed and self-governing association in the medieval commune”

Slide 2 has this excerpt:
