Went to US Embassy in Nine Elms to drop my ballot off and because of RAF Fairford, found them in lockdown - even for ballots! - and was turned away by a G4S numpty. Emblematic of something or other…

She’s a horrible transphobe married to that paper’s executive editor, and you don’t have to pay any mind to a damn thing she says.

I’m in Holborn and St Pancras. Gaza is a HUGE local issue because Camden residents want the Labour council to divest from defence contractors profiting from a genocide. The shares are worth £130 million, invested in council workers’ pension fund.

Having spent some time with her, she’s smart enough (and isn’t close-minded). Perhaps she isn’t a genius (loaded term anyway) but she *is* curious and intelligent.

I think I could bear that if the worst offenders didn’t suddenly go hands-off when the invoice needs paying in a timely fashion.

Went to the 2015 Roundhouse gig; hadn’t seen them play since 1985 in a triple bill with Hüsker Dü* and REM. But most days I went record shopping, Tommy was hanging out behind the counter. *I must be from Minneapolis - Hüsker Dü autocorrects!

I always thought society would evolve away from racial prejudice but nature appears to make new overseers with each generation. It sucks.

My friends took time out of their busy schedules of REM and Robyn Hitchcock obsession to get really into the Monkees that summer.

A professor writes: (Jason Stanley) The problem is that journalists failed to do basic journalism. Not a single reporter seems to have checked’ Jason Arday’s citations. The ‘quantifiable metrics’ of his work. Prof Stanley did: ‘Arday is easily comparable to the leading scholars in the field’

And more broadly, xenophobia: an unresolved dispute with a Cockney neighbour saw her reach for “go home” in the argument.

Racism, which is a profound psychological and moral failing, is never legitimate even if the concerns that are abused to justify it (unemployment, crime, housing shortages, etc) are.

Yes, it’s a good hostel - St Mungo’s I think? Have met some service users out and about because StM allows them to keep their dogs, and they are mostly regular people dealing with shitty circs. Imagine if you were a DV escapee staying there and had to deal with this as well!

With most monuments in London made by men, Claire Mander envisaged the Artist’s Garden as a way to redress the balance. Now, she says, it could be turned into a generic space for VIP events and cocktails
