I think many of the scholars on authoritarianism believing the US would be a competitive autocracy like Hungary are wrong. Had DeSantis been elected, that would've been the case. This moment has much more of the makings of a downward spiral into totalitarianism.

Absolutely! But what a waste of money for these churches to have been lavishlishly built in the first place while people are homeless. If there were a God, these churches would be repurposed as homes for those in need, paid in full by the priests, bishops and cardinals.

NAZISM is nothing new in America, this is MSG in NY in 1939. Hitler admired the success of American robber barons in suppressing organized labor, he was inspired by US & British propaganda during WWI, and he used the Jim Crow Laws of the South as a template in Nazi Germany.

When Darwin said "Fittest" he meant Best-Adapted, not strongest. Species that cooperate (like wolves hunting in packs or primates with social bonds) often thrive better than those that compete excessively.

I am so heartbroken. I got to know Elisa two years ago when she came to me with hundreds of emails of anti-trans legislators scheming around restricting trans rights. I helped get her story told by the New York Times and Washington Post. She deserved so much better. RIP.
