Faculty groups sued Texas Tech Chancellor Brandon Creighton + the system’s regents Wednesday, asking a federal judge to block classroom restrictions they say have censored professors who teach about race, gender identity and sexual orientation + intentionally discriminated against Black faculty.

On this day on 14 April 1931 the 2nd Spanish Republic was declared. Its arrival was greeted with euphoria by progressive Spain, including initially by anarchist masses. Its greatest material achievement: creating some 16,000 schools until crushed by Franco and his Nazi-fascist allies in 1939.
