I moved here in 1999 from NYC. Worked late most weekdays at my tech job in Pioneer Square. I felt less safe on the walk to the bus tunnel at 9:45 PM than I ever did in New York.

I think I knocked on his door while canvassing for Jaelynn Scott and he slammed the door on me 😬 It was one of the more hostile experiences I’ve had in 7 years of canvassing (and I’ve knocked on doors for Sawant in Volunteer Park!).

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson is announcing today the opening of a 75-unit enhanced tiny house shelter for people experiencing homelessness, located in the Interbay neighborhood. The facility is a part of Wilson’s plan to open 1,000 new shelter beds per year, with 300 beds announced so far in 2026.

Ideally, the bike lane extends through Little Saigon, and on street parking is minimized in favor of bike corrals, street trees, and occasional delivery/pick up zones. But that requires extensive and thoughtful conversations with the Little Saigon community and small business owners.

Eliminate the center turning lane lane starting at Yesler all the way North to Aloha. Protected bike lanes that full segment from Yesler to Aloha (curb - PBL - parking - car lane - car lane - parking - PBL - curb).

12th Ave is the main route for me, my wife, and our children to bike from our home at Dearborn / Rainier to Capitol Hill. It’s so dangerous that we mostly bike on the sidewalk. We desperately need a protected bike lane the full length of the 12th.

And no more Sweet Alchemy I guess, including the Capitol Hill location
Ko, who owns Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery and Elixir cafe and bar, brushed aside questions about whether she gathered signatures against the “event as planned” or against what she believed to be the long-term goal of its planners.

“I know these guys and they have been pushing this for a long time. No cars,” she said. “We don’t have the infrastructure to handle a pedestrianized street.”

Ko said she was spurred to action after getting a flier in the mail about the event. She went up and down the avenue asking fellow business owners what they thought, and most either hadn’t gotten the flier or hadn’t read it.

I lost my helmet & GoPro because I was distracted by the view from my first ride on the 2 line. Anyone have suggestions on whether I should replace my helmet cam with a GoPro Max/Max2 to get 360 video of the reckless driving I regularly encounter?

Tax breaks for big corporations do not protect jobs. Meta eliminated more jobs in Bellevue than in Seattle, which has two business payroll taxes (JumpStart and Social Housing Prop 1A).

suresh.com @suresh.com · 25/05/2026
I’m happy to correct our previous false assertion that you refused to answer that question and that you did indeed vote for Prop 1A. But, after checking with our members, we decided I should ask how you voted in other recent elections and we would post that along with our correction.

I recall asking whether you voted for Prop 1A or 1B and hearing a pause and then “I’ve always voted for payroll taxes.” Technically both options were payroll taxes. I recall pressing for whether it was 1A or 1B and noting also that that was the only business payroll tax vote recently.

Here’s the full text message I sent Saturday 5/23 at about 4:30 PM

hi, Will.
I'm going to post on the Tech 4
Housing Bluesky a correction that you voted for Prop 1A and that we incorrectly stated that you had refused to answer that question in your Saturday May 16
phone call with me. We ask questions like that to assess a candidate's political alignment when we're not certain whether a candidate's published statements and past actions match our viewpoints. In our phone call yesterday, you stated that you're aligned with Tech 4 Housing on most issues. To help us assess that, can you tell us whom you voted for in these recent local elections? Can you respond by 9PM Sunday 5/24?
Let me know if you need more time than that:* 2025 Mayor (Harrell / Wilson) -
* 2025 City Council #9 (Nelson /
Foster) -
* 2024 City Council #8 (Woo /
Rinck) -
* 2023 City Council #4 (Davis /
Rivera) -
* 2021 Mayor (Harrell / González)
-
* 2021 City Attorney (Davison /
Kennedy) -
* 2021 City Council #9 (Nelson /
Oliver) -
* 2021 Feb 14 Special Election
(I-135) - Why didn't you vote in this election?

So this is weird. When Suresh and I talked on the phone on May 16, I told him I voted to impose the payroll tax for social housing. He said “OK” and moved on. Only 1A (which I voted for) imposed a payroll tax, as Suresh knows.

This is so sad. My family lived in Boulder when I was 6 years old (1979!) when my dad was doing a sabbatical at UC Boulder and he used to take us occasionally to see the Cray supercomputer at NCAR. NCAR was the first paying customer of Cray because they had such intense computational needs!

Seattleites love their summers, but it’s a little more complicated for parents. What if we had universal summer care for all children in Seattle? This isn’t a pie in the sky idea. We can make Seattle a great place for working families.
