yes, they were all incredibly helpful (but if i had to throw out a cynical guess as to why it’s bc almost all of the deepfakes of PMJT were crypto scams so it didn’t paint the platforms in a good light to have such obvious fraud occurring in broad daylight)

agree completely // when i was in govt the “system” for dealing with a deepfake of PMJT was for someone in govt (either on the political or civil service side) to alert me to it so i could contact someone at meta (or wherever) and have it pulled down (not exactly the most efficient system!)

This story is a big deal. Please give it a read, even if you need to sign up for a one-dollar subscription. This tactic — manipulating chatbots as a backdoor to human beings — is only going to get worse, and Alberta separatism appears to be just a testing ground for these people.

It remains unclear who is behind the campaign but Canada’s National Observer has uncovered several unexplained connections — including to Let Alberta Decide, the largest third-party advertiser for independence in the referendum, as well as multiple individuals in Florida.

None claimed any knowledge of websites related to the campaign, yet several sites were taken down after contact to those individuals and groups by Canada’s National Observer.
