I'm noticing that a lot of zoomers use "yapping" in spots where they really mean "chatting" ("sorry i was just yapping with my friends") and I think this is because the word "chat" has been so thoroughly associated with livestream chatrooms.

This implies that phones are a part of their mythology. An alternative theory is just the Tolkien route where the characters are not actually speaking English, and we the audience are experiencing a translated version if what is being said in a language none of us understand.

Older Pokemon games worked because they masterfully utilized the audience's imagination as a creative tool. Newer Pokemon games struggle because they're competing with the audience's imagination and losing.

this is an idea i want eventually expand upon, but I'm starting to realize that high fidelity visuals in art, particularly video games, are actually bad. Not overrated, not unnecessary, Bad. Actively detrimental. Art should present just enough to spark the audiences imagination and fill in the gaps.
