Caring for Mom means that some days I find her glasses in *the garden* on the ground near the bushes or I find unopened boxes of Smarties upright in her flower pots. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sometimes she hides important mail so we’ve now put in a locked mailbox. I keep her glasses now too. 🥺

I remember watching Madonna’s video for Lucky Star for the first time on MuchMusic. That was probably 42 years ago and holy hell, am I old. I lived for Madonna’s music probably until 2000’s Ray of Light. Not sure why I stopped listening to her after that.

Only *just* recently watched NO HARD FEELINGS (and couldn’t remember why I put it on hold at the library) but Walter perfectly expressed why I love this movie! (Jean Arthur is my favourite actor.) Jennifer’s Maddie is scary, funny & badass but also soft & vulnerable. The rest of the cast is 🙌🏻.

My Mom’s cousin & his family are going to surprise her & come down from Ottawa for her birthday. 💗 Mom has already been telling me for the last few weeks what she wants to eat. 😂 A Blueberry Birthday Cake, Chinese Roasted Pork, Fried Noodles and Seafood. Not a vegetable in sight! 🤣

Been so stressed the last two weeks trying to fix/deal with something for my Mom. Lots of late nights doing paperwork, emails & letters. But treated myself to Taiwanese fried chicken after Midnight, plus an oat milk salted caramel iced latté (which is why I am still up 😳).

Went to my fave Market in the boonies yesterday & bought so much fresh produce (Swiss chard/green onions/mixed greens/yellow beans/sweet potatoes/cantaloupe/nectarines), olive sourdough bread, pumpkin cake & sausages. Bought a posy 💐 & had a yummy oat milk flat white. You can feel Fall in the air!

Did our annual Air Show picnic w/ Mom on Labour Day. It was actually pretty stressful but 1) Mom ate everything I made 🙌🏻 (ploughman’s lunch + blueberry raspberry coconut cake), 2) the ice cream truck showed up 🍦 & 3) Mom loved seeing the Snowbirds again. ✈️ I ❤️ this shot Roman took of Mom & I!

Found a fantastic Jamaican restaurant here in the boonies & their jerk chicken, oxtail & rice + beans were so good & flavourful. My Mom ate her whole plate! Will definitely go back & try all their other dishes. They make pepper pot!

After getting Mom to gain 10 pounds last year, she has lost it all again since May. She won’t eat carbs (I think we can agree she doesn’t need to eat keto at her age) & believes she’s fat. 😭 Homemade bread & dishes from her homeland are hit & miss. Doing the best I can & can’t take it personally. 😭

Played a new game (to me) called Slingz and it was a lot of fun! I love playing games & want to do that regularly again over the Fall & Winter.
