Franny Films approves, so obviously it's a good move. I just hope they do some 6th OL as a big boy blocker like Fran suggests.

I love Zach Ertz the player, and hope this works out, but he will be 36 in November. Julio Jones was a 33 year old Eagle and didn't exactly light it up.

Old and busted: You can't win a Super Bowl with Jalen Hurts at QB. New hotness: You can't win a Super Bowl with Cam Jurgens at C.

It's so great to have football back. I pay attention to other things that are important to me, which is why I love and pay attention to football. Ars gratia artis.

I saw that Jerry at the Spectrum in October 1994. Bought tickets in the parking lot. It was a lot of fun.

Jerry's last victory is closer in time to the release of Sgt. Peppers, the Summer Of Love and the Apollo 11 moon landing than it is to today.

The last 30 Super Bowls were won by 13 franchises. The Cowboys, Niners and WASteam are not in this club. Must be awful to be a fan of such losers.

The Los Angeles Rams are what Vince Young would call a Dream Team.

Christian McCaffrey had 450 touches last year. In both prior seasons where he had more than 400 touches, he missed 13 games in the ensuing season. Those ensuing seasons occurred when he was 24 and 28. He is now 30 years old. Kyle Shanahan loves load mismanagement.

Some sportswriters treat their readership with contempt, as if they are idiots; others write for a discerning, intelligent audience. Both are correct! Readership is self-fulfilling.

In a repeated game, reputation is a valuable asset. People who discount the future in a myopic manner undermine that asset, to their detriment. There is a big difference between short term and long term greedy behavior.

Career risk strictly dominates decision making. When you see an organization behaving in an irrational manner, it is likely due to career incentives of agents, set by myopic principals. It is analytically useful to model the agents, rather than the principals.

Everybody has a binding budget constraint. Everybody. Sometimes, it's hard to imagine how enormously wealthy individuals or institutions are constrained, but they are.

People mistakenly view innovations (scheme, tactics, analytical methods) as presumptive substitutes for legacy processes. In the equilibrium, innovation is likelier to be a complement than a substitute, given initial conditions.

Being pluralistic about models is good life advice, and good discipline for accurate judgment. Often, people have a "set menu" mindset when they can choose a la carte.

Serendipity is the word for the good side of randomness. We're conditioned to think of randomness and volatility as intrinsically bad, when convex volatility and randomness can be paths to success.

Many people - and their ensuing opportunities - are crippled by a fear of looking stupid. This is most common among the status-conscious, or in industries where status is the main currency.

As a reminder, the consequences have been both pronounced and persistent. In 8 out of 9 Shanahan years, the Niners were a top 10 injury team:

This is excellent, not reliant upon pseudoscience, and consistent with the vast empirical literature on load management: the Niners over-practice, over-train and their injury results are a consequence of that stupidity.

I don’t do film study; I have no comparative advantage, no alpha. I rely on somebody who does: Fran Duffy. And, boy, Fran was as skeptical as I can remember him ever being, regarding the Eli Stowers pick.

A zero discount rate promotes the idea that the desires of future Eagles fans shouldn't be treated as lower value, merely because of temporal distance. Though we are eternal prisoners of the present, our decisions have consequences which apply to future generations.
