October 1st, time for fall perfumes! Enforced Modesty goes metallic on me in warm weather, but fig and lilac take the lead in cooler weather. Easy comfort reach, similar to Parakeet in the summer. Seattle Chocolate is one of the few gourmands I enjoy. Dark chocolate and fir trees 🍂 #perfumesky 🍂

Sad to hear this. I bought a membership when I moved to Detroit last year. Not a ton of selection, but it's an oasis in a food desert. Perfect for mid-week grocery shopping, or a quick hot bar meal for those who work in New Center/Midtown.

#SOTD Orris Forest by Maher Olfactive. If I see coumarin or a lot of green notes, I typically avoid. But the sample kept haunting me. 1st full wear of the season...I actually love this. Orris butter is the star, and it feels like a walk thru Hocking Hills in the fall. #perfumesky

Description of perfume from the website: Growing up, my grandmother lived south of Saint Louis close to the Meramec River. As a child, I loved hiking out in the woods behind her house down to a creek that was a tributary to that river. There were fun hills to climb, and the smell was so fresh, green and vibrant.

As I was composing Tempo Rubato and contemplating the multifaceted scent of orris butter, especially the watery green nuances. It suddenly made me think of those hikes. So I composed this with those memories at the top of mind to create a nouveau fougère of sorts.

The result is a fresh spring day with blooming flowers, shimmering green notes with dew drops, the wet rocks of a creek and spicy, mossy undergrowth.

Notes: cassie absolute, violet leaf, orris butter, fig leaf, piñon pine, juniper tree, Bulgarian lavender, coriander, oakmoss, coumarin, dark-aged patchouli and Indian black pepper.

Really impressed with Tale! Bad Lily is already on my FB list, and now Rouse. Animalic jammy rose w/a realistic honey note. Fleurt was a pleasant surprise. Creamy, not too sweet gourmand. Not something I’d get a FB of but it was fun to sample. Water Me was the only one I didn’t care for. #perfumesky

#SOTD Tale Parfums Bad Lily. Now THIS is the green scent for me! Love at first spray. So hard to describe tho. Creamy, anise adjacent, green, musky, and prune fruity. Never goes too sharp or green, and doesn't come off too literal like a lot of green scents. On the FB list #perfumesky

Saving grace for my wallet is that most designer and mass market niche brands use materials I either can't smell or don't like my skin chemistry. Closest indie and small niche buying options are 3-4hrs away so no opportunity for immediate gratification buys. Now if I lived in Chicago 💸 #perfumesky

#SOTD Journeys 4/RIMA by Sarah Horowitz. I have been looking forward to pulling this back out for fall. It's my favorite patchouli dominant perfume ❤️ Not too gritty or dry, the florals hold their own next to the ambers and patchouli, and the blood orange opening sticks around a bit #perfumesky

Oh I like this idea! Seeing the dents in my faves since my big declutter has me considering doing one last declutter this fall. Maybe limit myself to discovery sets once per month of indie brands or small houses outside the US in 2027, and continue to focus on my loves.
